  15. I think you mean “Twist and Crawl”. Plus has Roger been confirmed as being in the new album? There are rumours but I’ve not heard any confirmation from sources close to or with in the band.

    • Alice Roques // December 26, 2015 at 7:16 pm //

Thanks for that update! We went ahead and changed it.
As far as if Roger has confirmed, no…it was simple teasing, allowing us to speculate what will be up and coming. As soon as we find out though, we will definitely let you know ?

  29. Amazing….powerful. Can’t wait to listen to the whole album.

  30. They are decent, but a total Soilwork Clone. And on some of the songs the guys singing is just HORRIBLE.

  38. Alice you’re nuts. Allender was the most repetitive uninspired guitar player COF ever had. The main reason why the last 4 albums sucked was because he kept doing lazy unoriginal guitar work. These two new guys are the ones who helped put COF back on track. Thanks for leaving Paul, the only cool thing you had was your PRS.

    • Alice Roques // July 17, 2015 at 9:02 am //

Hey now! No need to be mean. I kind of dig his White Empress deal. It’s his own project…perhaps he was burnt out on CoF and needed to branch out!

  39. Good review. Truth is (and judging by other reviews I’ve read I seem to be in the majority) that they’ve taken huge strides back toward their old form. They’ll likely never again reach the glory of 1994-1998, but they’ve now proven they can still crank out a good album containing most of the classic CoF components that made them into who they are. I love Paul but judging by the sound of this album, I think his departure may have been for the best. Completely reinvigorated, fresh sound. Most memorable riffs and songs in years. Now, those who say this is their best album since Midian are taking it a little too far, as this in no way tops Damnation and a Day. However, I’d have to say it easily bests their previous 4 albums, and perhaps even Nymphetamine too. Not going to lie, I was really starting to lose faith after Manticore. I hated that album. Thus, my rankings…

Full-length albums alone: (obviously VEmpire is in the top 3 if we include EPs)

    1. Cruelty
    2. Dusk
    3a. Midian
    3b. Damnation
    5. Principle
    6a. Hammer
    6b. Nymphetamine
    8. Godspeed
    9. Darkly
    10a. Manticore
    10b. Thornography

  41. Hello! I send my email to both, but it tells me that it failed to deliver it to [email protected]

Was wondering is anyone has received anything?

  42. Louis Labudie // July 5, 2015 at 8:13 pm //

This album is boring. Paul leaving was a huge part probably of the lack of memorable riffs and songs. I love every Cradle album but this one.

    • Alice Roques // July 6, 2015 at 9:56 am //

I still think it has that atmospheric otherworld feeling as they always have. Paul and his new band White Empress are AMAZING though. When we interviewed him last year, he was very much about the music and the project. VERY nice guy.
      Alice

  46. Just a little about myself/background, I started listening to metal at the age of 9, started recording and playing guitar at
the age of 16 and progressed as a producer at the age of 18, I have had many AnR reps interested in my music, as well as hitting #2 on the reverbnation metal charts for Winnipeg Manitoba back in 2014, I think of myself as pretty bad ass :p
and my music speaks for itself, I grew up rough had a fucked up up bringing and ready to raise hell with my music ? you can check me out here, https://www.reverbnation.com/SymbolicDivineOfficalhomepage I also have a facebook page, twitter and soundcloud.

Great review! Heavy Meta definitely puts them on a higher pedestal.

  49. I literally vomited, I couldn’t read the rest. The mother’s should be ashamed! I want to lay it on them! Why would a mother subject there child to such horrific acts? This is one thing I will never understand, because there is no understanding. There is no right among this. I would like to know if the family, or band knew? and how long did they know for? They should be held accountable, the harm could have been prevented. Also only 29 yrs? Are you kidding me? Give him life!!! He’s sick, he took that child’s and teens life basically, imagine the emotional torment he or she will face the rest of there lives. He needs life, in a dungon, no sunlight, one lousy meal a day of the most digusting food possible, and a cold hard floor to sleep on. I know I’m not supposed to judge lord, but this is just fowl.

  50. MarcoPolosPizza // May 22, 2015 at 4:32 pm //

I don’t like that title. Doesn’t stick. Godless. That would be better. Or how about something that would ring to the South Of Heaven title or something more dramatic, longer? The Land of the Southern Kingdom.. Southern Kingdom Reign.. The Down of the Upside.. Burn Heaven, Save Hell… Scorn Heaven Hail Hell.. The Line between North & South’s Spiritual Kingdoms.. I don’t know… Repentless doesn’t sound loud enough.. But, been a Slayer fan, stay a Slayer fan.. I hope the record does well..

  51. anonymous // May 7, 2015 at 1:10 pm //

I can’t believe these people will ever see the light of day. I also can’t believe the mothers aren’t getting the same punishment. I understand legally they couldn’t, but from the moment you give birth that child looks to YOU for safety, looks to YOU for love, looks to YOU for protection from people like him, and yet you decide to give up your child for some asshole’s enjoyment and your own sick perversions? It’s one thing if you never wanted a child, dump them on your relatives or even the foster care system, anything is better than what these women did. There’s just something inherently evil about a parent who can harm their own child in any way, so I just can’t believe they didn’t receive harsher sentencing. ALL OF THEM, really. I wish they’d have stuck this guy in general population -let the biggest guys take turns on him. Then again, he’d probably LIKE that shit… But I’ll bet he wouldn’t like it if he got his head repeatedly bashed in. I am one of the last people who would believe in capital punishment, and I realize the law is supposed to be free from emotion blah blah blah, but GOD DAMN IT. This guy needs to be strung up by his ankles and beaten/violated with a fucking baseball bat. Now that seems a little hypocritical that I’m thinking that way after calling him a disgusting psycho, but I don’t care. He’s sick, they’re sick, I don’t think anyone could ever come back from that. My only hope is that these children never find out during their foster care what happened to them. One might argue that they have the right to find out, but they were so young, I just feel like they should never be told the extent of the abuse. Maybe just tell them their mothers were drug addicts and leave it at that. Justice will never be fully served in this case and I feel for the children, the jury, the judge, all who had to be a part of this nightmare.

  52. found them on youtube about four months ago. Wow, awesome band, and after ‘The Greatest Show on Earth,’ Floor claimed she had cried. And yes, a rare near perfect SoCal day/night. Nice photos Anabel :)

  53. Hahaha love the tickets point, we have made that mistake once or twice and it sucked so much. It is so obvious but completely ruins your day wen make that mistake.

Some great tips though and love the shot of the crowd surfing girl haha, classic.

  56. Steve SMith // April 2, 2015 at 2:24 pm //

I totally agree. Fantastic album. In my mind the best they have ever done. Great vocals, music and theme. Floor was amazing in her precision, emotion and versatility although anyone who follows symphonic metal already know this is just a taste of what she can do. While there is no doubt in my mind that Floor was meant to be in Nightwish I have to give a lot of credit for the album to Troy as well. I love the use of his pipes and have wanted them to increase that ever since Dark Passions Play. His backing vocals also add another layer and allow them to do styles not possible with just two voices. However, I have two observations. It could have used a little more Marco and a couple times the swelling symphonics almost drown out the vocals. They could have mixed it a little better to compensate for this. Still …. bullseye! Great job guys.

  58. Could not possibly agree more with every single one of your opinions about Another Lost Year. Their live performance made me fall so in love that I want to quit concert photography/writing, become the band’s rep and tour with them.

There’s only a very small percentage of that last sentence that’s not dead serious.

  59. David Madison // March 23, 2015 at 12:42 pm //

Perhaps I should start as Rock Revolt do. With one of the sloppiest and frankly random mish mash of half thought out ideas ever to be called a review. This review is the equivalent of the shouting drunkard. Overall it’s the critical equivalent of a red star sticker, or an “A for effort” award at school, but a big “F for execution and delivery.”

    • Yes let’s do start like Rock Revolt in it’s entirety do and say, “How bout a big “F” for F**K you and an “A” for A**HOLE?” We laughed so hard at this review that our ribs still hurt - going on almost two years later. The fact that you still care about what is being written about this band (what’s their name again?) is demonstrative of your musical tastes. We happen to love our “shouting drunkard” who is one of our most gracious reviewers. He is a musician himself, so is more prone to writing stellar reviews rife with gushing adjectives. In this case, between the music and beer…this review happened. And we ran with it. Get over it - or get the fuck out. Thank you.

  60. Bill Hylander // March 23, 2015 at 12:23 pm //

A little less personal opinion and a lot more professionalism would go a long way for the writer of this, mindless ranting claiming to be a review. Most people know how to pocket their bias after a few high school English classes.

    • Wow…this band is still around? We’re just excited that someone has gotten this upset over an album that came out almost two years ago and where is this Harley Poe band now? We stand by our mindless, ranting writer and his opinion. Everyone has one. As to whether you consider it professional or not - quite frankly we give not a single fuck. How’s that for professionalism? This is a hard rock magazine. If you can’t play in the pit…get the fuck out. Oh and not playing shitty music would go a long way for getting a good review as well. This is one of two of the hundreds (if not thousands) of albums reviews that we’ve done that we just let our writer rip them a new one. /vlk

  61. phil rudd suited the band better , slade played too loud

  66. BourneID // March 11, 2015 at 5:07 pm //

Great interview, Just seems like an awesome guy to hang out with. So down to earth. Too bad Blue October is so under rated, they definitely deserve more attention. Can’t wait to see them live on tour this year. Just got me a ticket on here, and I’m hyped!

  67. Honestly, it suxs! Who told these guys they could sing and the Adam Ant shit died in the 80’s. LMAO

  68. SamTheMan // March 11, 2015 at 10:06 am //

Great article Alice, Corey seems like an all-round awesome guy. He just seems to be going above and beyond all the time, something not many artists do today. Just got myself a ticket for their 2015 tour on rocktotick.com, and I can’t wait!

  69. Just heard it on Finnish radio. Amazing! Kinda camp-fire feelings, like Holopainen’s world has turned from psycho to positive

  70. I can’t waitttttttttt

  71. randomprogfan // February 4, 2015 at 10:06 am //

this is actually really good i get some coheed & cambria feel with it but hey that’s my opinion

  72. Amazing album

  73. I can’t wait for this!!! SW helped me many years ago get through a bad divorce. I focus on music to get me through bad points in my life. Been following the Dreaming since SW broke up and again….helped me. Chris has an amazing voice and his lyrics really hit home

  74. F**K, time flyes, It seems it was a couple weeks ago, what a concert…And now almost two years later I found myself listening to DM and trying to remember how where the names of the opening acts, thanks for giving me the answer and making me feel like I was there at the Fillmore again. I went by my own and it was probably one of the funniest concerts I´ve ever been. Cheers!

  75. As stated, this is a Stabbing Westward reunion of sorts which rings true in the pre-released single “Alone”. As a continuous fan of Stabbing Westward, then The Dreaming after that, I can not even express how psyched I am for THIS new album… Especially one that brings back Stabbing Westward’s iconic sound and chemistry!!! I hope this, once again vaults Chris and Walter back to the top. Chris has definitely his paid his dues and has never lost faith in what he is doing. Many fans have done the same with him in The Dreaming! This should be a sonic feast for the fans of old AND new alike!! Cant wait until my copy is in hand!

  76. I agree with you. I think this album isn’t receiving as much credit as it should based on all its influences from bands in the late 90s. Be that is it may, for In This Moment, this is a very unique and empowering album. Songs like Sex Metal Barbie, Dirty Pretty and Out of Hell truly show Brink’s willingness to move above all the hardships and the haters. I think lyrically it’s incredibly beautiful. The best thing about ITM lyrics is that they always tell a story, arguably based on personal experiences. However, whether one likes the album is very subjective. This was a great review by the way :)

  77. Robert Langdon // January 19, 2015 at 8:52 pm //

This is really poor journalism. It does not read well, and the score does not correlate at all with the actual review.

I can’t blame the writer for the crappy web design though… To read something bigger than a twitter post, it’s best not to squeeze an article into the corner of a website - it makes it read badly, or in this case worse than it actually is. Christ, how hard is it to find a good review of a metal record?

    • Alice Roques // January 23, 2015 at 8:01 pm //

Every one is a critic and everyone has an opinion Langdon. We are certainly glad you decided to share yours…

  78. Listen The Rolling Stones live at http://www.concertradiolive.com. Only live music!

  79. Indie band of the year!

  80. your review read WAYYY higher than a 3/5. what the hell!

    • Alice Roques // January 17, 2015 at 6:46 pm //

Per the author = “While I loved the album, I’m so confused at the repeated lyrics and harmonies on 4 songs that I’m not gonna give them a 5. I really need to speak to them when they come on tour and find out if they were just being lazy or brilliant!”

  81. charlotte // January 6, 2015 at 12:26 pm //

this is literally the most disturbing thing I have ever read or heard about.

  82. Steve luongo……he has recorded with Brian and Cliff and has played with everyone….

  83. Vinnie is one badass. Keep doin what ur doin man!

  84. Cool Interview, but you may want to change the blue font of the questions to something else.. Very hard to read

  85. Sgt Prepper // December 16, 2014 at 4:54 am //

The saddest fact in the entire history of the world is that not only does the United States of America have an illegal-alien living in the Whitehouse but he is also The Antichrist.

  86. Yeah finally however I have seen the same with a man named Stephen Shellen and was shocked about different smear tactics linked to him. He too appears to be sane and healthy and intellectual theft was certainly behind some of his problems, as well as losing his children, being harassed and of course blacklisted.

  87. Any press is good press….use it to your advantage!!

  88. Yep the man can sure play those skins no question!!

  89. I asked Simon Wright last night at the Dio’s Disciples show if he was going to replace Phil again. He wouldn’t give me a straight answer. He would be my choice because of his past history with Stevie Young and he is in great playing shape. He is also a well known drummer from the other projects. Chris Slade would be great too, but I think age is catching up to him not sure he could handle a full on tour these days.

  90. Finally! I have been hoping that a real journalist would cover this story! Thank you so much for not automatically believing all the rumors. Most reporters have just stated them as fact. Scott told us that he was threatened with his reputation being ruined if he went public about the money that was stolen from him. The identity of the thief is now very clear, due to the false rumors that she has started. He never mentioned her name. In trying to hurt him, she exposed herself.

  91. Great article! I agree that in his videos (especially 2 and 3), the 911 call and his posts, he sounds articulate and credible. Although, I do tend to believe his older son’s comments too. Love to Scott! Hope you get a great legal team! Stay healthy!!

  92. keep your head up scott. things will get better

  93. Great work. Thanks for sharing. Concrete Blonde rocks.

  94. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  101. Please tell me the mother’s were arrested and killed in jail! A can not imagine anything so horrible, and like it said, a more wrong betrayal of a mother. I weep for these children and I have an infant at home I’m going to keep in my site as much as possible!
    Scary, dirt bags!!

  102. Wayne’s death is truly tragic, I’m not someone who looks up into the sky and asks “why” but with Wayne’s death, I did.

It makes me ill the fact he thought he had the right to appeal his sentence. Sick fuck.

  104. i gotta say great review man i wish more people were as open minded as you, i think it’s there most unique album i would have to say there really isn’t one song i don’t like on this album i think each song is a unique as the last, really don’t understand the hate, but to be honest I’m not much of a metal fan more of a rock guy and i love these guys

My daughter and I went to see him for her first concert. She met him after the show and it left a HUGE impression. She has let all her friends hear him and was looking forward to seeing him again.
We are very bummed by the news.

  110. Rest in peace. ..wayne static. .your music lives on….

  111. Nicole Odom // November 3, 2014 at 11:59 am //

That is the most vile and disturbing thing I have ever read. How could a mother do that to their child? And he is just a sick fuck. I hope someone in prison makes him their “fucktoy” but on second thought he might enjoy that, so I hope they just torture him. It is scary that there are people out there like this.. We pass them everyday on the streets and have no idea. I’m terrified to have children. I was molested as a child and if someone did something like that to my kid I think I would have to kill them.

  112. Very sad and shocking to hear about the passing of Wayne Static(and at the young age of 48),for he seemed like a very cool dude and it’s too bad that both he and Tony Campos ended Static X on very bad terms(since everyone was strongly hoping for a future reunion),for all of my condolences to Wayne’s family and his widow Tera.

  113. I am quite gutted over the news! RIP. May you rock out amongst the other fallen legends. lml

  114. So sad and tragic! Thanks for the memories and great music Wayne! Fan since 1999!

Jeni is not only a great singer, but she truly appreciates those that come to her shows. After the show, fans gather around her for advice, exchanging cards, and adoration. She greets everyone with an openness, rarely seen among rock bands. This also applies to the entire Phosphene band, they all have their groupies. All greeted warmly.

  121. Cathercist and Righteous Vendetta deserved to win. Both are great hard working bands that struggle to make it from city to city with limited funds. This statement that it was pre-planned or fixed is misguided conspiracy theory.

Seeing Todd La Torre and Queensryche on Halloween for a meet and greet and would love to have a copy of this for him to sign. Where can I order one? Tried looking here in Pittsburgh, PA but can’t anyone that sells them. Thanks!

  123. Good review!!!!

Glad they’re coming to Houston in November.

  126. Excellent article and interview, as usual !!!Love the style of Johnny Price’s writing, and have been a huge fan of his for years. He treats everyone like the biggest rock star ever! He must know 100’s of artists personally, and asks questions sent in by fans too. He is a great writer and collector of all genres of music. Keep up the good work,JP!!!

  128. MARK Greening played on this album and wrote most of it with Jus. Simon Poole is simply the live session drummer. And he’s rubbish. Kicking Mark out was a dumb move. They clearly used him to promote this new album. And they still haven’t had the guts to pay him any money yet.

For sure my favourite band of all time, and I actually loved this album. Compared to what is being played today, it is the best music out there. Just like Doolittle was the best thing being played at that time. Now, of course, I cant, and wont compare Indy Cindy to Doolittle or Surfer Rosa, that would be like comparing McCartney’s ‘New’ to Band on the Run, however, it is still a great album. I really hope that The Pixies put more out, I will keep listening.

It seems like the industry is “full of rip-off artists” - is Ernie Ball one of them? Via their contests they definitely seem to be part of “one of the most successful live music promotions of its kind,” with over 25,000 participating bands every year bringing a lot of FREE advertising and promotion for Ernie Ball, their sponsors and the festivals. Their contests may be free to enter (and I’m not sure how many bands have succeeded in gaining new fans from solely participating), but bands certainly have put a lot of time and effort, at the risk of burning out their fans, into Ernie Ball’s publicity machine… Someone did a little research and posted the following on many of the participating band’s pages on Facebook:

“Hello! I’m Miss Anonymous! I see you were in the Battle of the Bands for Rock on the Range…unfortunately, you and the other 1,400+ bands that entered and spent almost 2 months of your time promoting and asking your Fans, Family, and Friends to Vote everyday, never even had a chance it seems! Just read the article below entitled “Rock on the Range/Rockville – Battle of the Truth” and decide for yourself!? What’s the incentive of even having a Battle of the Bands then you might ask? How about almost 2 months of FREE Promotion for Rock on the Range, Rockville, and Ernie Ball Guitar Strings from the 1,400+ bands, band members, friends, family, and fans. It’s only obvious these 2 bands were chosen before these 2 battles even started, just do the simple research and you’ll see for yourself. Sorry, but the music bizz still sucks, and it’s still dirty, but I’m washing my hands on this 1 for sure!

(((Please “SHARE” this and let’s inform the masses!)))

“Rock on the Range/Rockville – Battle of the Truth”

Ernie Ball Guitar Strings recently offered a great opportunity to perform at one of the biggest festivals in the country – ROCK ON THE RANGE – which takes place for 3 days once a year in Columbus OH.

This year Ernie Ball Guitar Strings and Rock on the Range teamed up to put together a Battle of the Bands. One lucky band would win $15,000 in new equipment and open the show. The contest started in late Feb 2014 and ended in mid-April. Fans, Family, and Friends were able to vote for their favorite band everyday to try and get their band Buzz% as high as they could get it. There were more than 1,400 bands that entered the contest.

Competing bands were told that the top 100 bands would make it to the final elimination stage, with one finalist from that group being chosen by a panel of judges.

On April 29 Ernie Ball announced that the band RIGHTEOUS VENDETTA had been chosen to play at Rock on the Range. Ernie Ball also did the same exact battle of the bands for another festival called ROCKVILLE, in Jackson, FL that took place on April 26. The winning band for Rockville was CATHERCIST.

Interesting fact, both bands RIGHTEOUS VENDETTA and CATHERCIST, had already been touring together since early April and are both managed by the same guy, Erik Baker (Street Smart Marketing). Both bands “happened” to have the same night off (Saturday, April 26 – who doesn’t book a Saturday in the middle of a tour?) to participate in the Rockville festival, and their tour ends May 13 in Ohio, just in time for the Rock on the Range festival on May 16, which is also in Ohio.

Ernie Ball, 2 festivals, both bands managed by Erik Baker, won both Ernie Ball sponsored events, touring together, both bands off and just in time for the two music festivals?

    Coincidence? Or Pre-Planned?”

  170. Harhar // May 6, 2014 at 3:04 am //

I’ve never been a fan of any sports team or a band for that matter. Guess I just miss that part of the brain. I just enjoy what I enjoy. I don’t care about “band legacy”, original line ups or such. I like the music or I don’t. Knowing the artist influences the expectations sure, but that’s it.
I thought Indie Cindy was great. For example Greens and Blues and Bagboy are just as good or better than anything they’ve ever done.

Kim’s departure seems to piss fans off. If Kim and Frank can’t work together, then off with Kim. It’s a Frank show and always was. Kim’s contribution was the (purposly?) oversimplified bass lines and a howl here and there. Not too hard to replace.. I’ve always thought she was the least significant part of the sound.

  172. I picked up my copy of Indie Cindy a couple of days ago. Unlike everyone else on the ‘Planet of Sound’ I had no idea what to expect - hadn’t heard any of the new stuff, hadn’t read any reviews. Not having broadband access and never listening to commercial radio meant that I had to wait for some sort of physical medium to appear before I could find out what was on offer. But I don’t live in complete darkness so I did know that there was new, Kimless Pixies music around and that critical reaction to it has been, um , mixed.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I’m an old (50+) bloke who is a long-term Pixies fan. By which I mean that I’ve had ’em (and Frank Black’s various incarnations AND a bit of Breeders) on pretty heavy rotation for well over 20 years. My wife reckons I’m ‘Pixated’ and that’s a fair call - they really are my all-time favourite band. So I guess that there are two camps that I can choose between (based on the opinions that I have now read):
    1) IT’S A TRAVESTY!! What are they thinking denigrating their legacy of blah, blah, blah … ,Or
    2) It’s a Pixies recording ergo it’s a GOOD recording that I WILL enjoy (even if I have to work hard to do so)

Which has made me think about why I fell in love with the old songs in the first place. Simple answer is that they were great, GREAT examples of honest-to-god pop. I’m a bit of a fan of the humble pop song. Highbrow folk tend to sneer at pop because the songs are ‘formulaic’ although, oddly, they tend not to see adherence to formula being an impediment to a sonnet or a haiku being appreciated as GOOD ART. Not me! I’m a sucker for a well-crafted pop song and the Pixies back-catalogue is jam-packed with superior pop. By this I mean that the old songs meet the (well, my) definition of what constitutes a pop song - short-not much more than 3 mins and probably shorter; some combination of verse(s) and chorus(es) with (maybe) a bridge thrown in somewhere; plenty of hooks, both musical and lyrical.

So the “poppiness” of the new offering doesn’t discombobulate me in the way it seems to have some other old-timers. They always gave us good ol’ pop, it’s just that they used to keep that a secret from their listeners by dressing it up in fairly abrasive outer garments.

I’m not sure if I’ll still be listening to Indie Cindy in ten years’ time. (I’m pretty confident that I will still like Doolittle into my dotage.) I can imagine some of the new songs actually finding a mass market as disposable, radio-friendly, songs-of-the-moment but having no longevity. I can also imagine that some of tracks will be musical lichens that will, almost unnoticed, attach themselves to my long-term tastes and flourish in much the same way as the earlier stuff. We’ll see. One thing is certain: the “it’s a travesty” reaction that has been pretty widespread is just a bit silly.

    • Wow! Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts as a long-time Pixies fan. The fact that you have an open mind to the new material is a testament to the fact that age and time invested in the band doesn’t stop you from appreciating the new lineup and offerings on Indie Cindy. I am a long-time fan as well, which is why I specifically asked a younger staff member do that review (21 yo college student). He really enjoyed it - so much so that he went back and listened to their older stuff and is now a fan. I think that speaks volumes to the fact that perhaps this is not the “end all/be all” album for us old-timers but may just be the catalyst to bring in a whole new generation of “Pixated” fans to the Pixie party! Again, thanks so much Ian! ROCK ON! ~ Valerie King, Co-Founder/Editor in Chief - RockRevolt Magazine

Well, I respect the fact you actually liked it. But to my humble ears this sorta album sucked so bad it hurt. It fucking hurts, having LOVED them so much back in the day and to this day. This can’t be the same band who gave us wonders like “Surfer Rosa” and “Doolittle”, ergo two of the greatest albums ever made, in my opinion. This album is a joke.

    • Alice Roques // April 26, 2014 at 11:36 pm //

KUDOS to you Mr. Massive Suckers Squad for not letting our opinions sway yours. I realize this comment comes a bit tardy but feel compelled to share. In my 38 years in this life, (one rife with issues of depression, suicide attempts and instability, not to mention social ineptitude and isolation) I have spent the bulk of my energy probing for the cause of said issues. A few months back, I came to what now seems an obvious conclusion that my own father violently raped me at age 2 1/2 and my mother has since maintained a stance of denial in the matter even in light of the physical trauma it caused me for years. I want people to know that even though I cannot recall the act, it has impacted every concievable aspect of my life in debilitating ways for which I cannot impress the magnitude. These types of offenders are far worse than those who murder. One never heals from this type of pain, which follows me every day in this life regardless of years of dealing with my issues head-on. I was robbed of any possibility of normalcy and ability to maintain proper stability for employment to support myself financially. The humane thing to do would have been to kill me afterward.

    Great article. Thank you.

Quick question - i looked at the website and it seems more geared towards instruments. Do you know if it also covers gear for a company that specializes in sound reinforcement and lighting design? If not, do you know where I could look for something like that? In the state of NY preferably.

    Many thanks

    • Hi Gabriel: You would have to contact MPI directly to ask them that as I don’t know the 100% answer to that question. The word “gear” is understandably confusing and that’s a very good question. It sounds to me as though you need a really good commercial lines insurance agent for your sound/lighting design company’s insurance needs. You can compare rates online with all of the usual suspects and/or see if the agent that handles your personal insurance (home/car/health) also does commercial and get rates. Good luck to you and I’m glad you enjoyed the article! Val

  186. Analog way of life. There’s something to be said about the importance of every wire and circuit and inch of tape it takes to be authentic.

    Thanks guys.

    • Thanks for checking it out and leaving a comment. I love analog recordings and still buy vinyl. Yesterday, had a kid who manages a punk band ask me a question about disclaimers for explicit lyrics and it came up that they are releasing on CASSETTE. I was like, “WTF for real - that’s awesome” and he said it’s “the new thing - like a movement”… Just when I think I’m getting old, I’m made to feel older by not knowing that it’s now cool to do something old. Get a new front man and dont let the actions of one very sick individual destroy the great volume of work the band has done. Your music has got me through some of the toughest times in my life and it sickens me now that when I hear an LP song it just reminds me of that sick bastard!

Insuring musical instruments has always puzzled me. This post was really useful though. article by Last minute musicians on how to insure a musical instrument was pretty useful too. http://www.lastminutemusicians.com/blog/?p=367

    • Thanks Adam. We’re glad it was useful. Why did insuring musical instruments have you puzzled? As in just finding out about it, how much it would cost etc. or why someone would have insurance on their instruments/gear? There is not a week that goes by where we don’t hear of somebody’s stuff getting stolen, run over, smashed, blown-up or otherwise (don’t ask lol). It’s one of those things that you don’t need until you need it & I think most musician’s either thought they were covered, it was unaffordable or don’t have at all. Thanks for sending along the lastminutemusician.com article as well. We have a lot of readers in the UK, so I’ll put a link to that on the original article, as it’s good stuff!

    • Valerie King // January 21, 2014 at 12:59 pm //

Not quite sure about the “Watkins is guilty of no more than every male rock star who has ever appeared on the cover of a rock magazine” means, as I strongly disagree with that. Taking “advantage” of your position as a “rockstar” by sleeping with women that literally line up to do so is just not the same thing. Sex between consenting adults is just that. This is an entirely different matter, which is why it was so shocking. He used his position as a rockstar to gain access to women with babies/children that worshipped him and would do quite literally anything to be with him - including going against natural maternal instinct (if these two ever had any to begin with). That’s so twisted.

I’m very glad that the article helped you to understand how he got 35 years. I personally wish it would have been life for all of them, but one can always hope for a shank in the shower. VK

  197. great interview, I enjoyed it a lot.

  198. Nick will be missed in Black Label Society.

  199. Yes dear editor, you are 100% right. Killer bees, bring it on. The fact that is he is a rock god is totally irrelevant. Of course he is guilty, he has admitted it and there is video evidence. (which traumatized the people who saw it.) I hope he learns the meaning of rough , painful , forced sex in jail. I hope he is used and abused everyday for the rest of his miserable life. He deserves it all. The Mothers!!! of the children helped him WTF.!!!. I find it hard to believe those close to him didn’t know that he is a sick fuck. But surely they did not know just how sick. !!! Let justice prevail . Adults should protect children and animals, they should not fuck or hurt them . End of story.

  200. Amazing Review! Thanks for the kind words. Have a nice 2014

  201. Death Penalty for these C@@@@ are the best way to deal with these oxygen thieves.! Family and friends of theirs that think its a minor thing should be convicted the same way! Denial is nothing more than an excuse!

  202. Nick will be very successful GIFD brother SDMF

  203. crasyhorse // December 21, 2013 at 5:43 am //

I don’t think there are the words to describe this piece of filth. Justice will hopefully be served to him inside prison.

  204. Evangelist1975 // December 20, 2013 at 3:21 pm //

I am truly saddened to hear about this horrific acts against these innocent children and also the animals. According to Scripture any man or woman, that have sexual acts with animals

shall surley be put to death. Leviticus 20:15-16. IAN Watkins a
and these females are without excuse and have a far worse fate then prison. A first and second death coming. The wrath of man cannot compare to the wrath of God.

  205. The laws in the UK are not like the United states and that’s messed up. He should be put to death but we will hear from him in 5 or so years.

  206. While the ‘act’ was horrendous the ‘baby’ (now, presumably, fostered or adopted) will know - even - be persuaded to know nothing in future unless some horrible trolling right or rite of knowing pursues the child into later life and reveals to them their terrible history.

  207. I’ve never understood why our prisons have suicide watches. I think the rooms should be equipped w/ nooses!

  208. The editor says “Hi Lisa: I completely agree with everything you wrote here” - including the part about hoping dearly for the reinstatement of the Death Penalty? You are editor of a magazine called “Rock Revolt”; I invite you to measure the distance between the kind of easy-peasy Daily Mail hanging fever being displayed in yours and Lisa’s comments, and any meaningful “Rock and Roll” or “radical” attitude to the world. I’m sorry it is just laughable.

By the way, in saying this I am not saying that Ian Watkins should not be dealt with harshly.

    • Valerie King // December 18, 2013 at 11:05 am //

You argument is perplexing. Just because I’m the editor of a magazine called “Rock Revolt” doesn’t mean that I am not entitled to an opinion, nor should my opinions be prejudiced by the nature of the magazine for which I edit/write. I don’t think there’s a harsh enough punishment for someone that rapes a baby - death penalty, anally raped until his insides explode, attacked by killer bees whilst enjoying his 30 minutes of “outside time”…I don’t care. He has NO REMORSE (see today’s report on his recorded phone calls) and even if he did, that sort of thing cannot be erased - from time, memory, conviction or heart. I’m personally hoping he gets anally raped while being attacked by killer bees. Now that…WOULD ROCK - harshly!

      • Of course you are entitled to an opinion, everyone is; I’m saying that your opinion so far amounts to simple bloodlust (“i hope he gets anally raped until his insides explode” etc. etc.), which does not “rock” in my opinion. But then I suppose I’m naive enough to have thought a Rock focused web mag with things like “BRING THE REVOLUTION BACK TO THE PEOPLE!” on it might have some, you know, editorial values of a progressive-ish nature. My mistake of course.

        • Valerie King // December 18, 2013 at 1:19 pm //

“Editorial values of a progressive-ish nature” does not apply to baby rape. REVOLUTION/REVOLT in and of itself by definition means to rise up and go against something. I officially am against baby rape and pedophilia. I find it REVOLTING. There is nothing “progressive” in which I can offer other than a bunch of psycho-babble from studies done on pedophiles and spew recidivism rates for sex offenders, which I don’t care to do. I don’t believe there is a “progressive” solution to address people that like kids for sex.

        • Alice Roques // December 18, 2013 at 1:23 pm //

I guess it depends on who you speak to at the magazine Brazen Radish. It’s one of the benefits of having multiple people with varying opinions on various subjects. I (Alice - Co-founder and Managing Editor) put up a piece not to long ago about my opinion regarding the whole ordeal, where I focus more on the victims instead of the perpetrator, as well as encouraging the reporting of sexual abuse to the appropriate authorities. Was a heinous crime committed? Yes. How people decide to act or feel about it is always going to be subjective, but regardless, everyone is entitled to their own sentiments according to their own experiences. The revolution is still up to the people, and how they go about pushing that revolution is truly at the people’s discretion.
          Rock on my friend,
          Alice

        • It does rock !! “Rock Revolution” does not compare to baby rape, you fool, they are two different things. and bloodlust !! well who does not want revenge for the violation of innocent children. anyone normal, I would hope!!!

      • On your side VK. Death Penalty. These bastards don’t need take up anymore space on this Earth!! Along with any followers still!

  209. Lisa keenan // December 17, 2013 at 7:43 pm //

As a student in crime and investigation I am aware of legal implications of all crimes, however I just do not understand what needs to happen before both nationally and globally we realise that the battle with sex offenders is being lost. Why can the death penalty not be re-instated under strict restrictions such as convicted sex offenders. My suggestion is that the judges should have to look at least ten per cent of all incident images offenders have been found with, only then will they realise the enormity of what these people chose to view and engage in, perhaps it’s about time these judges need a reality check and realise for every image found is a childs innocence lost. Sad sad times and I hope in my life time, we start to see capital punishment come back into force for people who hurt others so terribly

    • Valerie King // December 17, 2013 at 8:32 pm //

Hi Lisa: I completely agree with everything you wrote here and I’m actually kind of worried about what will happen tomorrow (today in UK). Been working on an article all day in which according to Crown Court Laws/Sentencing there could be “wiggle room” for him under the revision (2008) of the definitions of “Dangerous Offender”, the fact that he is a “first time offender” (at least he’s never been caught) and he plead guilty (which doesn’t HAVE to, but could cut his sentence by as much as 1/3. It makes me sick…literally sick that he could get off without less to life or death. We shall see… :(

    • I know what ur saying but capital punishment cost soooo much money. Just keep them in jail. That’s a shitty life.

Thank you for reviewing Trevor Juenger’s Coyote! I have been shooting and missed this when originally posted; my apologies.

I’m so glad to see Michel Schiralli’s score and Nick Walter’s cinematography getting the recognition they deserve, along with Trevor Juenger’s writing and directing. Those guys are the triumvirate behind this strange little film. Thank you for giving it some exposure as Coyote shops for distribution. Much appreciated. As a fan of your work, and knowing you are an artist of darkness and light in your own right , your comments mean much to me.

  217. Serious? As a writer in the media you agree that the crown must prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt, and simultaneously you deem the singer a scumbag, your mind clearly made up in doing so. It is because of these fool-hardy rants that the craft of good reporting is long dead in the water. You have no access to the brief of evidence which is yet to even be submitted. Have you not heard of the Mc Martin preschool case? Accusations were made in 1983. After three years probing, and six years of trials, no convictions resulted, and all charges were dropped in 1990. When the trial ended in 1990 it had been the longest and most expensive criminal trial in American history. All because of moral panic, thick as shit police work, gossip, rumour and innuendo. Wait the outcome, then start the judgement of him if you think it matters. Such charges are serious and either way, the accused should be given a fair hearing at the very least. Consider for a moment the implications for this person if he is innocent.

    • Alice Roques // November 27, 2013 at 1:43 pm //

We do hope that you’ve been following the case. Just yesterday he pled guilty to attempted rape and sexual assault of a child under 13.

      http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-25108439

    • The guy is sick, and you were wrong. I don’t need to call on any trials or history to say that you’re a fucking idiot. Use your intuition.

    • Are YOU serious?? Previous cases have nothing to do with it. There was video evidence. Your a fool.

    • Valerie King // January 21, 2014 at 12:42 pm //

Dear Reprobate: I am very aware of the McMartin preschool case, which is a preposterous case to cite as reference in regards to the Watkins case on many levels, but specifically the evidence (which was lacking, circumstantial and controversial in the McMartin case). There was no internet in 1983, and Steve Jobs had just come out with the first Apple computer the year before. Fast forward 30 years and the internet/technology was instrumental in resulting in these convictions.

The crux of the matter is that the evidence in this case is iron-clad, with Watkins documenting (and saving/storing) EVERYTHING on his many computers, hard drives and cloud storage - 27 TERABYTES of evidence (if you’re not a computer person that may mean nothing - but 27 terabytes of storage is larger than the entire Cardiff Police Department’s computer storage to give you an example). Oh yes…he liked to keep everything and it’s hard to claim innocence when there is video evidence of Watkins masturbating while watching one of the defendants abuse her own child while he tells her what to do. Wake up! How much more EVIDENCE do you need than that, really?

As a member of the press I’ve been privy to too much information to be quite frank - glaring, documented, indisputable evidence of the worst kind - far too disturbing and graphic to publish.

That is why Watkins pleaded guilty at the 11th hour (after a jury was already chosen). He knew what the prosecution had and if the world saw the evidence, he would have nowhere to hide. Tens of thousands of graphic texts, recorded Skype sessions on which two of the incidents of which he (and the “mother”) was being charged in this case took place, videos, thousands of images of child pornography (and animal sex), emails, private messages, twitter, his accounts/profiles on sexual sites (including secret pedophile groups)…on and on. Therefore, the Crown Court didn’t HAVE to prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt - because he PLEAD GUILTY and ADMITTED to the charges (although he now claims he was on drugs and doesn’t remember …ok).

      Please read this: http://rockrevoltmagazine.com/document-filed-by-judge-in-ian-watkins-case-graphically-spells-out-abuse/

They are still mulling through all of his stored information, but what they found thus far resulted in this conviction in the UK and there is strong evidence that he might have sexually assaulted children in the US & Germany as well. If you don’t believe me…read of the international search for more victims:

      http://rockrevoltmagazine.com/international-search-for-more-victims-of-ian-watkins-tour-shcedule/

In conclusion, I am extremely secure in my assessment of Watkins as a scumbag I was being nice). After you read the document filed by the Cardiff Crown Court Justice who presided over this case and handed down the sentences and you don’t agree that he is a scumbag, then I strongly urge you to reassess your values as a human being.

      Valerie King, Editor in Chief

    • Are you serious ??? Moral panic ?? He confessed and there was video evidence. Of course the charges are accurate. There was NO thick as shit police work. The poor police had to be subjected to the video evidence. Are you a moron. the charges are NOT gossip and innuendo. He is not innocent you jerk. Of course it would be a tragedy if he is innocent, but he isn’t. CLEARLY !!!!

  218. Just when I thought that human deviance couldn’t get any worse. What a disgusting, malignant growth. There are no suitable words in any language to properly describe this gross insult to the human race. And to discover that females are involved in this abominable crime, is beyond my comprehension. I thought that the reprehensible revelations about Jimmy Saville, and the subsequent investigations into other celebrities, was bad enough. But this new case, defies belief. All Paedophiles, in my opinion deserve to be removed from this world. They are the most selfish and cowardly of all abusers. Is there nothing that humans won’t do to one another? My mind absolutely boggles at the sheer depravity. Well, somebody must’ve come to their senses, or suspicions were raised. These B…ARDS!!, should be put away for life, and nothing but!

  219. carolineredbrook // November 26, 2013 at 12:20 pm //

Accused pedophiles like Watkins, Sylvain Kustyan, Jerry Sandusky, etc. (and their enablers) must be apprehended before they have years to continue to destroy young lives. Sandusky and Watkins are now safely behind bars. But unfortunately, Kustyan, who has been formally charged with two counts each of 1st Degree Sodomy and Sexual Abuse of a ten-year-old little boy, fled to avoid imminent arrest. Kustyan, formerly of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Hermin/ Mazingarbe, France,as an English teacher, has led numerous groups of schoolchildren on trips to the US, the UK and Ireland. Kustyan is now a fugitive from the law. Perpetrators condemn their victims to a lifetime of emotional and psychological trauma and often permanent physical ailments as well. Since the average pedophile has 300 different victims in their lifetime and since the recidivism rate among pedophiles is virtually 100% and since there is no effective treatment and no known cure, they and their enablers must be stopped ASAP!

Well now now, Ash…I must take some responsibility for the misspellings in Rob’s review (if there are any - who really cares? Oh wait, you do!). You see, I edited this piece and quite frankly, I couldn’t see through the tears of laughter while doing so. Normally, I am very meticulous about my editing duties, but halfway through the 2nd paragraph, I decided to put about as much effort into the editing of this piece as this label or band put into the recording of this album. Rob is one of our best writers, and if you look back on his many reviews, this is the lowest rating he’s ever given. As a matter of fact, I believe he was actually irate with this assignment because this band, “KILLED HIS BUZZ.” Furthermore, we take offense at you saying that it took him 3 hours at his mom’s PC to write this. He was at his big boy house of his very own in Australia (where he trains attack kangaroos and shit) and it took him an entire 23 minutes. I asked. But thanks for your critique. :)

    • Good. You can take your buzz and shove it up your juvenile ass. Are you 14? Pathetic.

    • I bet your favorite band is Nickleback. Mr. Austrailia has too much time on his hands anyways. He’ll never be as good as David Thorne. Tell him that.
Are you from Indianapolis? Let’s meet up. Come to Georgetown Market. And actually its funny how your dumb magazine has not very many more likes on Facebook than Harley Poe.

    • Oh and why don’t you people come up with some real critques instead of just saying random bullshit about them as people. That’s not a review, it’s slander. You are acting like you’re in a reinactment of Mean Girls. Cut the shit.

      • Connor Williams // November 8, 2013 at 8:03 pm //

Mean Girls is a great film! With that aside, as a band you should be more accepting of a negative review rather than positive ones. I know writers who are forcefully positive but once a band gets a bad one they go apeshit. Bands should accept this and learn from mistakes to make improvements for the next release.

Harley Poe has 3,648 likes. RockRevolt has has 4,794 likes. That’s 1146 more, so I’m not too sure how you define us “Not many more likes” than you…

  227. You sir, are a tyrant. You misspelled the word “they’re” at the very end of one of your pathetic paragraphs of highschool ranting. Get off of your fucking high-horse. How’s your health? I am quite certain that your body does not appreciate your sitting down at your mother’s PC for 3 entire hours trying to think up a book worth of hate-spitting.

  261. Seriously lady, (or guy) big fucking deal… Get over your obsession.

    • It was a day where some of my favorite rockstars kept popping up on my computer in pictures - Robert Plant looking like my grandpa on a bad day as just one example. It’s sad to see everyone getting older and realizing that as they get older, so do I. It’s hard to see sometimes. So, when the pictures aging Kurt came up it just pissed me off. “Here’s what he’d look like IF he had made it to 46 years old.” I didn’t want to see that shit. Just because the technology is available to do it, doesn’t make it right any more than publishing pictures of dead celebrities (corpses). I felt it was a stupid and disrespectful thing to do on his birthday. Let the man be. Let him be 27 forever. As far as obsession goes, I have no time for that, but he was the voice of my generation. I’m sure he was shooting the big finger down at those pictures as well. Thanks for your input though. I’m over it now (kinda). Valerie King, Editor in Chief

  267. This story in itself in very inspirational. I am not a fan of Digital Summer (to be honest I clicked on this link thanks to CD Baby).

After reading this article I will take the time to connect to them on every platform and I will learn about this awesome band.

Thank You for presenting an awesome post!

  268. Awesome pics! I was at the Tampa tour opener, and Sister Sin OWNED the place when they were on stage! I was maybe 3 feet away from stage left and it was KICK ASS. Jimmy, Liv Strandh, and Dave just hammered every fucking note in existence out into the audience… it was like a sonic musical heavy metal orgy. God, that was good!

  269. Tichy also kicked ass on the drums for this CD.

My favorite song from Breaking Point is the song the album is named after, Breaking Point. It speaks to me since I’ve been pushed to that point multiple times through my life, but somehow found the strength to work through. It strikes me as a song to show that while we all have that point, it’s about saying “Fuck it.” and going on anyway.

  271. Morton Henrichsen // February 18, 2013 at 3:11 am //

I simply want to tell you that I’m all new to blogging and truly loved this web site.

  272. My favorite song on the album is ‘Forget You’ simply because it reminds me to never dwell on the past and just keep moving towards the future and don’t let anything stand in your way. Also, I saw this band open for Nonpoint and I thought Nonpoint could be opening for them!

  273. Digital Summer rocks!!!! Such a huge fan of this band after seeing them in Vegas!! Great article :)

  274. “Broken Halo” because of lately DS is “my favorite addiction”.
saw these fine talented musicians for the 3rd time just last night and they graced the audience and me with this song. they are awesome guys who appreciate their fans. love the lyrics and feelings behind each and every one of their songs. looking forward to more music and more shows :-)

  275. Slant RULES! AWESOME about Indie Band of the Week!

  276. AFFIANCE is one of my favorite new bands! Great interview!

  277. WOW! Great shots! Can’t wait to see what you people do during a whole year! Rock on!

  279. esther louise - Thanks Courtnee! I’ve also got the 5d mk 2. My favroite portrait lenses are the 70-200 2.8 usm, and the 85 1.2. I’d say 90 percent of my portrait sessions are done with those two lenses and then I’ll switch and do a few with my tilt shift. I actually also have the 50 1.4 and have been very happy with it as well. Are you using back focusing and manual focusing points? That makes a big difference too. I always use manual focus points when I’m shooting wide open for a portrait session to make sure that I get the focus just in the right place. I hope that helps, feel free to email me if you have any more questions and I’m always happy to help!

  280. I think you have remarked some very interesting details, thanks for the article.

  281. Adele is azinamg, truly azinamg. This is how music is supposed to be, from the heart. Now I know you guys probably don’t like rap because all they rap about are stupid things like sex, money, and drugs. But there is this guy, who rapped to an instrumental of this song (Someone Like You), and it sounds azinamg. It’s about love, and there is no cussing involved. I’m not comparing the two artists at all, I just think you guys should check this song out. Search for Bostin Misguided Love.’

  282. Thanks for introducing a ltitle rationality into this debate.

  283. Rockrevolt, thanks for interviewing John Culberson. I hope people can click on the links to A Course of Action and enjoy the music of these talented musicians. Were very proud of them and what they have accomplished with their hard work and sacrifice and I think others will also after reading this conversation and listening to their music. Thanks Rockrevolt and Rick Lindner for your hard work.

  284. I just wanted to tell you that I love your Indie Band of the Week thing. I’ve found some GREAT new bands/music, like these guys! Just wanted to say thanks. Rock it Rockrevolt!

  285. Hmmm…I’m gonna have to listen to some more but I like this band.

  286. Cool interview with John Culberson from A Course Of Action !!! Huge fan I am !

I’m pretty sure that Shakira’s son will be a famous musician, a soccer superstar or maybe both! Clearly I love that woman!

  303. Your exadurating when you say that this album is SOOO complex.
I do think that its complex on some levels, but it flows all the way through. Thats what I actually love about it - Its fun!
Best Tomahawk album so far, in my opinion.

    • Etan, yes that “SOOOO” is an exageration. It is complex, but not overly complex that it loses its appeal. Kind of like how sometimes a puzzle can be simple and complex at the same time, but if its too much, then you kind of want to throw it aside and do something more than waste your time figuring it out. That’s this album, and I LOVE IT too. So enjoyable to listen to! :)
      Alice

  304. In the article it says that the album is called “Wretched And Devine: The Story of the Lost Boys”… Not correct. It is “Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones.”

    • Thank you Hannah! Thousands & thousands of ppl have read that and no one has noticed or let us know that it was WAY wrong. We will get that corrected asap. Devine? Lost Boys? WTF? We edit the hell out of stuff but expect our writers to at least get the album titles right. Geez! Thanks again :)

  307. Anthrax is the best fucking band ever & it’s about time they were nominated for a grammy! I bet Rob is going to regret leaving - what a douche!

  308. This review made me laugh - especially the first line! Excellent homage to one of my favorite avante garde bands. Can’t wait to hear! Thanks.

    • PotHead101 // January 19, 2013 at 7:08 am //

Hahahahha, the review made me laugh too. some lines are extremely retarded, and are just about how it makes her feel more than the actual music. and c’mon its not all that complex compared to their earlier stuff, its actually pretty damn straightforward

      • Thanks Pothead, I think…Isn’t music more about how it makes you feel though? :)
Yes, it is straightforward, but I enjoy that simplicity about it, layered over with different samplings of vocals. I don’t know. I just liked it A LOT!

  348. That was an awesome interview! I have always like Dokken, but didn’t know much about Don. Oh and I’d pay good money to see a Jello wrestle match between him and Lynch. That would ROCK!

    • Ha! Thanks SteveO! That was actually a joke question that I said when the writer (Johnny Price) asked if there was anything I wanted him to ask Don Dokken during the interview and I said, “Yeah, ask him if he’d be interested in a RockRevolt sponsored Jello wrestling match with George Lynch.” I WAS KIDDING (kinda…that would be awesome - but he wasn’t supposed to ASK! lol) Well, JohhnyP is one funny guy and he said that since he & Don were having such a great conversation (very comfortable & joking around) that it just felt right. Don said yes - I’m sure he was joking. But now I’d love to see it! If they’d do it, we’d donate all the money to charity - OF COURSE. That would be awesome! Thanks for reading & glad you enjoyed the interview. Stay tuned to see if this Jello match comes to be… lol! Val - RockRevolt Magazine

I think your best choice of singer is already in the band (Jeff Pilson)! I watched an unplugged youtube video of Jeff Pilson singing (You Just Got Lucky) and even though I am a fan of all the original members of Dokken I thought Jeff nailed that song better then Don himself. I even noticed George look up a few times with a look on his face as though he was thinking the same thing. Not only would Jeffs vocals re capture the Dokken soul I truely believe all the die hard Dokken fans would highly approve! I for one would buy every CD! Food for thought :) Good luck with what ever choice you make and i will be keeping an ear open for any new adventures. Thank you for all the wonderful music! SLADE3X

  387. I no like this news. Why they do this to him again? BEHEMOTH a big time favorite band of me. Poland is ass shit. They no like anyone. I hope he not got to jail for 2 yers. That sucs.

  388. Thanks to person writing for take time to tell me of this new album. I was trying to decide if to buy or not, but I go on what you say and buy. I like Pig Destroyer much. They are bad arses and rock good. Thank you.

  389. Please don’t use ISIS and Dream Theater in the same phrase.

    At least, Tool & Neurosis!

    • Not a Dream Theater fan I see .
I used the Dream Theater quote to reference the length of the songs.
I’m with you Ricardo, Neurosis Rules. Tool and Neurosis it is!! Keep Rockin’ Man!!
      ~Jase Spiegel

  390. Nice Write-up. It’s really a great article about one of my favorite bands!

  391. Hi! You are mixing up Sweden and Switzerland in the opening paragraph! Sweden is not famous for it’s chocolate nor watches ?

    • Indeed you are correct! Perhaps our writer was drinking something Germany is famous for: BEER! And I know I was drinking Italian wine whilst editing. If that had been an error in comparison based upon alcohol, I would have caught it right away! LOL! Thanks so much! ?

  392. Really great post, skillfully written and really nice photos of Rob Zombie. Thanks!

  393. Great interview, thanks! Of course, instead of quoting Homer Simpson, you could’ve actually quoted Justin (from Balance Beam) and written “giddy like a schoolboy”…would’ve been way cooler.

  394. I’m antisipating the Hallowen show here in Salt Lake. This will be my sixth Blue October show attended. I’m so exited to hear you will be playing the roots of B.O. I’ve never heard you playh ind.happy live. I look forward to my sixth and what promises to be the best show yet. Thanks Justin, Jeremy, Julian,Matt(Bill)ha,Ryan,(CV)THE PAST ANYWAY.(piper)as well. Love you. You all have so much to do with my sobriety.
Love;JOEL CHILDS. SALT LAKE CITYS BIGGEST FAN.

  397. Can I just say what a relief to discover someone who actually knows what theyre talking about over a internet. You genuinely know how to bring an dilemma to light and make it important. Far more men and women have to read this and understand this side with the story. I cant believe youre not additional well-liked since you genuinely have the gift.

  398. I love Justin’s honesty ! He is real ! I’ve met him a few times and he talked to my son and I ! Just a really nice guy ! We love his music ! We love his lyrics ! We love the way anyone can take a piece of either and relate it to their own lives, while listening to and understanding his pain and glory ! Thank you for such a wonderful interview !

    • Thank you so much for the compliment! We agree completely. Justin Furstenfeld is one of the few that stand out as being genuine and honest. He puts his heart on his sleeve, and its a beautiful thing. We love him as well!
