Children of Bodom fans were disappointed and concerned when the band posted on their Facebook page on Friday, August 9, “We unfortunately have to cancel our performance tonight at Peabody’s. Amon Amarth, Huntress and Battlecross will still play as scheduled. Refunds available at point of purchase.” Â
No one really knew what was going on, but it has come to light that guitarist Alexi Laiho was rushed to the hospital on Thursday, August 8, which forced the band to cancel their sold-out show in Nashville, Tennessee. Â
The show did go on with Amon Amarth (co-headliners with Children of Bodom), Battlecross and Huntress doing what they could to save the Nashville show.  However, Laiho was obviously still not up to playing as Children of Bodom also were forced to cancel their August 9 show in Cleveland.
The next Children of Bodom show is scheduled for September 1 in Hiroshima, Japan. Â We are hoping that is plenty of time for Alexi to recuperate from whatever medical issues he has. Â
The guitarist admitted he needed to reduce his drinking after being hospitalized in July 2012 with extreme stomach pain, but it is unclear whether this recent incident is related. Â
No other details have been released as of this posting, but an official release is expected from the Children of Bodom camp soon. We’ll keep you updated on this situation as we get any news.Â
The band’s latest album, Halo of Blood, was released June 11 via Nuclear Blast Records.
