black-sabbath-13Black Sabbath fans rejoice!  Last month, Black Sabbath announced that their long-awaited album ‘13‘ would be released on June 11.  Today they revealed the cover art, as well as a 27-second clip of the music within (watch below).

The artwork is comprised of what appears to be branches engineered to form the number 13, on fire in the middle of a cloudy night, with bare trees visible in the distance.

The video that accompanies the announcement is a time-lapse camera trained on the wood as it is set ablaze.  It’s near impossible to judge an entire album based on less than 30 seconds, but from what we can hear – we’re STOKED!

The song opens with a typically slammin’ Tony Iommi riff, followed by the the unmistakable voice of Ozzy Osbourne sings, “Nowhere to run / Nowhere to hide,” before it fades out.

’13′ is the first studio album by Black Sabbath with Ozzy on lead vocals since 1978.  Drummer Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine has taken over for founding member Bill Ward, who couldn’t come to a contractual agreement with the other members.

Stay tuned for more Black Sabbath news!

About Johnny Price (590 Articles)
Johnny P’s picture should truly be in the dictionary next to “music lover” as he seriously personifies the very essence of the word. He lives, sleeps, eats & breathes music. When he’s not at shows conducting interviews, he’s writing out his experiences for all of you in his wonderful, down-home, “don’t need a damn thesaurus to read it” storytelling way. He is our Knight in Metal/Rock Armour, our tireless attendee of every show, and most importantly – a champion and friend to musicians at every level (he treats everyone like a rockstar!). If you ever get the chance to meet him, you’ll know by his big smile and humble southern boy charm that he is about as real and nice as they come.
