Meet The RR Crew
Alice Roques – Co-Founder/Managing Editor
Alice is the hot, sticky, sweet glue that holds RR together. She’s the calming YING to our own special brand of crazy-sauce YANG, if you will. In addition to wearing multiple hats and expertly juggling many ballz in perfect unison, her love for interviewing and writing compels her to bring forth some of our best original content over and over. As if that isn’t enough, Alice is our also our Head Honcho graphic designing GODDESS – rocking the most interactive digital magazine in the world today with her techno-geek madness! So, as you turn the pages of the magazine and the music starts playing, cool shit pops out at you, and all of the buttons and gizmos work – bow your head low & chant her name! A-L-I-C-E! A-L-I-C-E! A-L-I-C-E! We are not worthy…
Valerie King – Co-Founder/Editor in Chief
Val has worked as an Editor/Journalist at various major publications for over 20 years. This is not her first rodeo, but she’s sure it will be her last ever since she sold her soul to the gods of rock n’ roll and bought a one-way laminated VIP ticket for the crazy-train called ROCKREVOLT. Val makes sure that the RR locomotive is a semi-well-oiled machine, packed full of rockstars and keeps barelling down on you! She’s better equipped to find the right contact for a band than the NSA, keeps the website chugging along every day, and works tirelessly to spread the love of RR across the land. Val fully intends to use her top-secret undercover ninja skills to get RR to the top of rock journalism infamy!
Angela Adams – Co-Founder
Angela has over 20 years of business and financial management experience in the entertainment arena. She has spent the last year forging ahead to establish branding and advertising opportunities for RR. Her favorite saying is, ”People that can’t create, tell people that do create what the hell they should be doing.”
Josh Rienecke – Photo Editor
Does Josh look like he’s having fun? HE IS! Capturing some of the most iconic images for RR since day one, Josh brings his mad skillz to every show and he never leaves the pit with out the money shot! If you get in his way, he will poke you with his giant lens of doom – and we seriously don’t advise it! With a portfolio from shooting some of the biggest names in music for over 20 years, Josh always has both “guns” loaded and ready to rock! Check out all of the pictures of badassery on Josh’s new photography page on Facebook HERE.
Thomas Woroniak – Assistant Photo Editor/Photographer/Master Exploder
Originally from Rockford, IL, this veteran concert photographer has earned his stripes, shooting thousands of shows through the years. He’s been featured in many regional magazines and newspapers in and around Kansas City, MO, where he now resides. When he’s not at a show, Thomas is a motion graphics designer and 3D animator at some “other job” somewhere. He won’t tell us in fear that we’ll prank call him. Thomas has jumped in with both feet at RR, helping with editing of photos and teaming up with writing partner in crime, Bradford, to cover shows far and wide for RRM. You can check out all of Thomas’ work on his photography WEBSITE or FACEBOOK PAGE.
Johnny Price – Lead Senior Journalist
← ← Johnny getting the ole “lanyard pull” by Maria Brink – like a GANGSTA! lol!
Johnny P’s picture should truly be in the dictionary next to “music lover” as he seriously personifies the very essence of the word. He lives, sleeps, eats & breathes music. When he’s not at shows conducting interviews, he’s writing out his experiences for all of you in his wonderful, down-home, “don’t need a damn thesaurus to read it” storytelling way. He is our Knight in Metal/Rock Armour, our tireless attendee of every show, and most importantly – a champion and friend to musicians at every level (he treats everyone like a rockstar!). If you ever get the chance to meet him, you’ll know by his big smile and humble southern boy charm that he is about as real and nice as they come.
SickRick – Senior Journalist
With a pirate’s heart that naturally leans towards debauchery and shenanigans, coupled with the razor-sharp edges of his real vampire teeth, this Journalist/Musician/Keeper Of The Night is scared of nothing…especially when it comes to speaking his mind. Bringing a slightly twisted and completely hilarious spin to every event or interview, SickRick always tells it like it is, and makes you feel as if you’re galavanting beside him at the show or backstage. A lover of the darkest of metal genres, he is our new go-to guy for the ”blood & guts” bands. SickRick will be venturing around the globe bringing you so close to the biggest, baddest black metal bands in the world that you’ll almost be able to smell them! He will stop at nothing to bring his music to the masses! SickRick is a vampire! SickRick is a pirate! SickRick is fearless! SickRick…he truly giveth not one single, solitary fuck.
Stina Marie Harris – Senior Journalist
With sand between her toes and sun bleached hair, Stina is your atypical typical Jersey Girl with a pinch of sexy rock n roll and a dash of sophisticated fun. She’s a lover of all things creative and an advocate for anything that inspires thoughtful conversation and movement; physically or mentally. Music is the vehicle and words are her lyrical honey to sustain and travel colorfully through this sometimes black and white world. An old soul in rock n roll taste with a fresh outlook and pallet for new players on the scene, Stina is the chick that listens to everything once. Twice if it turns her on. Follow her blog at www.onesayaday.com and stay turned to Rock Revolt Magazine for her east coast Jersey style attitude and by-the-beach carefree flavor.
Gemma Solomons – Music News Editor/Journalist
Gemma is a graduate student at the Journalism school at the University of Colorado-Boulder. She decided to pursue journalism when all the creative writing instructors at her undergraduate school, when asked for career advice, simply shrugged their shoulders and said, “Starve, and then hopefully you’ll get lucky.” Besides getting up juicy tidbits of daily music news on the RR website, Gemma does album & live show reviews, feature stories and interviews. She has a tattoo of an asshole on the back of her neck (so don’t fuck with her), and her first live show was a Hanson concert when she was 8. “MMMBop” was her jam.
Rob Ryles – Writer/Reviewer – Australia
Bradford W. Skelley – Journalist/Photographer
At the early age of 17 years old Bradford embarked on a musical journey of epic proportions, and obtained his first photo pass to shoot his favorite band. Little did he know that this would be a foreshadowing moment of a life dedicated to all things that rock. So he sold his soul to Rock N’ Roll, and continued his exciting journey of entertainment bliss, branching out into writing and interviewing along with photography for several regional magazines. Bradford attends more events in a year than most do in a decade. He still happily works for In The Now Magazine along with his jobs working for tour production in his area, & playing music of his own.
Cassie Carlson – Journalist
Cassie is a Senior at Purdue University, majoring in Journalism. She was fortunate enough to have been raised by metalhead parents, who brought the girl up right! Even though she may look like a Barbie doll – Cassie is a straight up horns-out metal chick who is not afraid to take on the scariest of bands for interviews or album reviews. We could totally ruin her metal rep by posting a rap vid she did on YouTube, but we wouldn’t do that. Never. WATCH IT HERE!!!
Debra Muller – Magazine Covers/Graphics/Photographer
Deb has been a true friend to RR from day one, stepping in to offer her amazing graphic skill to everything from our logo design to the front covers of our magazine (which she ROCKS!). She is a music industry veteran having done everything from managing touring bands and PR to her current position as head of A&R for Fuchs Audio Technologies and Bump Cases & Merch. One of the coolest chicks in the business, you can usually find Deb at a live show anywhere from New York to Los Angeles as she travels around ensuring that her rockstar endorsers are bumping their “junk” with care in a BUMP CASE and melting your faces properly with the FUCHS YOU sound! If we’re lucky, she has her camera handy and shoots off some awesome pics for RR while she just happens to be doing her thing.
Travis Kreuzer – Contributing Writer
Travis is a great writer who is constantly in pursuit of new bands. The harder the better for this headbanging University of Colorado rebel who was raised on classic rock and graduated to heavy metal before he got his first pubes. Living in Colorado, he can be found exercising his right to use his “medicinal therapy” for “headaches” just about anywhere. He survived his hazing period with RockRevolt by conducting one interview in a blizzard and another in the bathroom with Wilson (while one took a healthy dump) & he’s still here.
Caitlin Helms – Photographer – West Coast
Caitlin is an extremely gifted photographer, with the eye and skills of a seasoned veteran (although she’s barely old enough to drink). She came to us as an intern from Biola University in Los Angeles, and we we ruined her good, so she stayed! We didn’t scare her off after her first week which included photographing Dave Ellefson (Megadeth), Troy McLawhorn (Evanescence), Aaron Lewis (Staind) and Eye Empire. We kind of did a “baptism by fire” with her – and she came out unscathed! Proving herself as a worthy REVOLTER, Caitlin continues to bring you kickass pics from the pit and other various VIP cool shit that she gets to go to in LA. We would say, “BITCH!” but she’s not – at all – just geographically lucky!
Connor Williams – Contributing Writer – UK
Connor is RR’s version of the “Almost Famous” kid with a Brittish accent! Covering all things cool in the UK for Rock Revolt™ with an ear for great new music and a rock writers drive to ask the questions of a true fan! Treading where no American dare go, we’ve sent him on zombie walks, to every hard-core, grunge, screamo headbanging show from Bristol to London – and he keeps coming back for more! So our only rules for him are don’t miss school and … “DON’T TAKE DRUGS!”
Victória Oliveira – Contributing Writer – Brazil
Victória is a High School Senior in her homeland of Brazil, but don’t let her age throw you. She’s already been published writing for many influential brands, blogs and online magazines such as Dormify, Potterish, Inspiring Women Magazine, Conscious Magazine and now Rock Revolt Magazine. Victória loves music and is interested in everything art-related. She has a great eye for on trend designs in fashion and decorating ideas – particularly with an emphasis on music. We can’t wait to see her do her thing, Brazilian style!
Debi Ann - Contributing Writer
Debi Ann is a spirited and riveting writer, covering interviews, music reviews, and movie reviews. Having previously worked meticulously for horror blogs, she now joins Rock Revolt Magazine to continue her passion for writing. She is also an amazing artist, turning every day children’s playthings into nightmarish works of art which are featured in several upcoming horror movies. She brings us an eye for the macabre and we are lucky to have her with Rock Revolt Magazine, balancing out our already badass slew of kickass writers with a little horror-artistic finesse.
