TIM LAMBESIS SPEAKS ABOUT HIS CASE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Tim Lambesis

Since his arrest on May 7, 2013, As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis has remained silent about his case until now.

Stories that Lambesis, a “Grammy-nominated Christian metal singer” had allegedly put out a “hit” on his estranged wife Meggan Murphy Lambesis, circulated the press. Lambesis was arrested and charged.

In a recent interview with West Coast Editor, Ryan J. Downey of Alternative Press, Lambesis explains the series of events leading up to his arrest from adopting three children from Ethiopia and divorcing his wife, to his experimentation with steroids and his straying from the Christianity for which he was notorious.

Lambesis says religion was a huge factor in his actions during the time prior to his arrest.

“I’m not blaming religion. But this was one of the factors that sent me into this massive moral decline,” Lambesis said in the AP interview, “I was convinced there was no God and therefore there was nothing wrong with absurd things.”

Lambesis also admits that the situation with his wife put a strain on his relationship with his children, leaving him struggling to find another way to handle the custody battle.

“My thinking at that time… As much as I wished there was a better option, this is my best option,” Lambesis said in the AP interview about putting a “hit” out on his ex wife, “obviously, right now, I can think of a dozen things.”

Lambesis agreed to share his story in a not-for-profit documentary and with Alternative Press. The full interview on the Alternative Press website, with in-depth answers to all the questions fans have been asking since his arrest.

The future of As I Lay Dying was addressed by the band last month, calling AILD “sleeping, not dead.”
