Interview with Greg Hall of Like Pacific

Like Pacific is currently on tour with Senses Fail, but before that the band had toured with bands like State Champs, Knuckle Puck, and joined the lineup for Warped Tour in 2016.
Originally from Toronto, the band formed in 2009 and released their full length album, Distant Like You Asked, in February of 2016.
Though the band is currently on tour, we got a chance to catch up with Greg Hall, Like Pacific’s guitarist, about touring and the album.
You guys have been on Warped Tour. How different is a festival tour to a tour like this different for you?
It is literally different in every aspect you could imagine. From the time you wake up in the morning to what time you gig at, it could be different everyday. On Warped, you’re at Warped, and that’s it. There’s no exploring or experiencing the city you’re in; it’s like you’re at summer camp, but everyday you wake up somewhere new.
What’s your favorite part about being a touring musician?

Getting the chance to play to a different audience in a different city every single day. We get the chance to meet the people our music effects in a positive way, and that is the most humbling feeling.
What’s it like touring with Senses Fail, Movements, and Counterparts?
Absolutely fantastic. We have a lot of existing friends on this run from crew to bands. We’ve really hit it off with Movements; we love those guys. We’ve known Counterparts for years; getting the chance to finally tour with them is a blast. We’re super grateful for Senses Fail bringing us out on this run,. We obviously grew up listening to that band.
You guys released Distant Like You Asked in February of 2016. It’s now a year later; how has releasing the album changed things?
It’s changed everything really! We were touring our S/T EP beforehand, but Distant Like You Asked along with the support of Pure Noise really provided us with the platform to reach a larger audience. We’ve grown as people, musicians, and friends so much since the release.
How has fan reception been since the album release?
It’s been great! We’re quite happy with how our debut LP was received, and we can’t wait to share our sophomore record with you. We’ve got to meet countless new fans over the past year, we love that.
How about since releasing “Stay Pissed” in January?
We actually released “Stay Pissed” on Bandcamp in the fall of 2013. It was just remixed by Anton Delost who originally recorded the track. We play it live sometimes, surprise!
Do you have any new music/new album in the works?
Yes, we’re always writing; LP2 is in the works!
Who do you look to influence wise when you write music?
We all have our influences which vary from early 2000’s DriveThru Records punk rock to recent hardcore and pop punk. We don’t necessarily look to any specific influence when writing; however, I think the music we grew up with is eternally embedded in our veins, and that naturally translates through our music.
Do you have any stand out memories from tour?
We’ve made countless amazing memories together on various tours over the past few years. There’s too many to choose just one.
Do fans ever bring you gifts? If so, what is the most memorable or strangest thing you’ve gotten?
No, not really! Some of our fans bring us movies, donuts, and other things like that. Once in a while one of our good friends who runs ‘Two Ravens Soap” out of Colorado will bring us soap to keep your boys clean.
Is there anything you want the fans to know?
We are so grateful for your endless support. You have no idea how much we love you, and how much we appreciate you coming out early to watch our set and talk with us afterwards. We love meeting each and every one of you.
What’s the next step for you guys?
We’re writing a new record and touring as much as we can in the meantime. We’re not going anywhere.
Like Pacific is on tour now! And make sure you check out Distant Like You Asked!
