Who are you and what is your role in the band?
My name is Pat and I play guitar: one of our three guitar players, that is.
How did the band get started?
Daniel and Tim started this project a few years ago. They liked what they were doing and asked the rest of us to join. It was supposed to be the classic “hey friends! come write some songs and we’ll just record them…we’re not playing shows or anything like that!” Fast forward a few months, we play our first show.
Who are your influences and how do they play a role in your sound?
I grew up as a punk rock/metal guy. I love how different the guitar styles are in both genres. I’ve never been a flashy guitar player (that’s all Tim and Stefan) but I do think my punk rock influences come out as guitar player and a songwriter. I like to keep it simple and melodic.
What has been your most meaningful experience being in this band so far?
I think just the fact that this band happened is pretty meaningful to me. I’ve known Tim for years but we kinda lost touch for a while. I hadn’t played music with anyone for a few years before he asked me to go write some tunes. So for me, that’s the start of it.
Favorite memory from a show you’ve played or a place you’ve travelled?
I think any show I play with these guys is memorable. The luxury of having 3 guitar players is if one guy’s sick or can’t make a show, no worries: we can operate as a five piece. That’s happened a few times. Our band is now playing more regional shows than before. We’re just taking our time with the live shows and concentrating more on writing songs. New record out this fall, I think!
What do you hope to accomplish with your music?
Considering how this band started, I think we’ve already accomplished more than what we set out to do (or didn’t set out to do, I guess lol). If we keep writing songs and people keep listening, that’s the end game, isn’t it?
Something about you that no one knows?
Good question. I tend to be an open book, really, but let’s dig deep here. My first guitar my folks bought for me was a cheap, pawn shop acoustic guitar and I’d dare to say 99% of everything I’ve written over the years came from writing on that guitar. Pretty cool, I guess. The neck’s pretty warped too, so it has this crazy sound. But, yeah, I’m not sure if anyone knows that.
What is next for the band?
Writing, writing, writing. We took a small break from writing because things got busy with shows and life adventures. But we’re about to get back onboard writing to get another record out this fall (hopefully). I’m excited about it. I think our new stuff is probably the next logical step in this band’s sound.
Anything else you want to add?
In regards to our new stuff, we just released two videos within the past few months. First we did a cover of “Take Me Home Tonight” by Eddie Money and released that song with a video. Then we released a video for our new single “Carrie”. Both videos are up on our YouTube page. Pretty cool stuff! Also, I think we might release a new song in the next few weeks.
