INDIE BAND OF THE WEEK: MAN ON EARTH

man on earth - banner - indie band of the week - ibotw

To make it in the music industry is definitely not the easiest thing in the world. But these guys, seem to have what it takes to win the race in the long run. They have a unique sound, beautiful vocals, but most of all, a huge appetite to succeed.

Out of New York, Man on Earth, officially formed in the last 6 years, and have many ups and downs since then. Their lead vocalist Steve Nathan, is the heart and the soul of the band. His dream started to become true when he caught the attention of Grammy winner producer Ken Lewis. After that, everything came naturally and success began smiling on Man on Earth. Recognition, TV and radio appearances, as well as wins in numerous contests and awards! These are just a few of what the band has achieved over the years.

The past 3 years has been a helluva party for Man on Earth: traveling across the U.S., doing live shows, and living in bus stops and airports, they have managed to steadily build a loyal fan base that follows them city to city. Today, they are proud to present their new self-titled album mixed by Mike Watts and produced by Cooper Anderson. The bands goals for the months to come are to continue their tours and keep writing new stuff, but not before receiving this week’s RockRevolt title of INDIE BAND OF THE WEEK!

Man on Earth have been going strong since 2008. Would you explain to us how it all started and when did you all meet?

Man On Earth started with Steve Nathan (a.k.a. Nate) as demos written in his bedroom. This eventually led to forming a band to play live shows. After several line up changes the band is now Steve Nathan (Vocals/Guitar), Steve Gregoire (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Adam Root (Bass/Vocals) and Angelo Modica (Drums) whom all write the songs together. We met through classified ads and friends.

For those who haven’t heard you before, how would you describe your music?

We are a Rock/Alternative band that love to play live shows!

What are your influences?

We listen to every kind of music and are influenced by everyday life events.

You write all of the songs by yourself. Where do you draw your inspiration from?

We write together as a band and involve usually our producer Copper Anderson.  Again our inspiration comes from events that are going on in our daily life.

How did you come up with the name of the band?

Steve Nathan came up with the name.  He wanted something simple and straight to the point. It’s who we are.

What was the most difficult situation you experienced so far as a band?

Being away from our family is probably the most difficult as we tour.

You are on tour right now and from what I know, you’re killing it every night. What is your favorite thing about getting out there?

Meeting fans at our shows. There are so many cool people out there. We are very lucky to have wonderful fans that are very supportive.

With which other artists have you collaborated with (studio, lives etc) and with whom would you like to work in the future?

On our newest record (MAN ON EARTH) the song “Lost In These Lights” has Dr. Fink from Prince and The Revolution playing the keyboard solo. The list is endless on who we’d like to work with, but in a nutshell, people who think outside the box and are creative.

At your site, you mention a girl from Germany who came to New York to tattoo  some lyrics of yours on her arm. How does this make you feel?manonearth - album

Loved and fortunate to have amazing people around us.

Your new self-titled album has just released. What should we expect?

We are very proud about this record. We put what we felt was only our best tracks on this record. People should expect to hear sold songs with lots of energy and heart.

What are the differences between your new album and the previous ones?

This record was written by all of the members and the producer. In previous records it was mostly Steve Nathan writing.

Tell me one lyric of your songs that suits you best.

Was music always your dream growing up or did it come unexpectedly in your life?

Yeah! We all wanted to be musicians our whole life as well as other things on top (laughs)

What is up next for you?

Tour, Write, Record, Repeat!
