Keep your ears and eyes open because the guys are working on some much-anticipated original music for 2016! So, let’s “GET BAD!”

Who are you and what is your role in the band?

I’m Billy “Billman” Jones: drums and vocals. I also do most of the band booking, all of the promotional stuff, website, artwork, design, marketing, graphics, coordination, etc.

How did the band get started?

Joey (formerly of Superglide), myself (formerly of The Newz) and Johnny Glover (formerly of Black Glass) joined forces and formed the band in 2013. We had all been in successful projects that had been popular for quite some time. For various reasons, we were all finished with those projects, and decided to form something new – together.

Who are your influences and how do they play a role in your sound?

I’m influenced by a lot of different musicians, and vocalists, and for a lot of different reasons. Being a musician and a singer, different aspects affect me in certain areas.

Drumming, I’m influenced by some of the obvious: John Bonham, Scott Rockenfield, Carmine Appice, Alex Van Halen, Neil Peart, Jeff Porcaro, Kerry Denton, Mike Portnoy, etc. but also some of the not-so-obvious: Matt Abts, Thomas Lang and Dennis Chambers to name a few. My initial influence was my father’s drummer – David Lowendorf. As a small boy growing up in New Jersey, I used to go down in the basement and sit on the washing machine and watch my father’s band (that also featured my older brother Paul playing guitar), rehearse. He’s basically the reason I started playing drums, and the reason for a lot of my playing style. Thanks Dave!!!

As far as vocal influences go … I have many as well. Warren Hanes, Jon Bon Jovi, David Coverdale, Geoff Tate, Don Dokken, Glenn Hughes, Chad Kroeger, Lou Gramm, Paul Rodgers, Gary Moore and Noah Hunt come to mind immediately, but there are plenty of others.

What has been your most meaningful experience being in this band so far?

For myself, I would have to say a couple things. First, the bond that I’ve created with some very special people. Joey and I are truly like brothers, brought together by fate, perhaps and it’s a lot of fun doing something that you love, with people you love. It makes it worthwhile!!! Also, the energy, and the music that we offer and deliver on stage. It’s exhausting at times, but it’s very rewarding and sets us apart from others. I have also enjoyed sharing the stage with some iconic rock and roll names – Bret Michaels, 38 Special and Firehouse, and for us, in this band – to be afforded such opportunities in such a short amount of time, says that we must be doing something right!!!! These things are very meaningful, for me.

Favorite memory from a show you’ve played or a place you’ve travelled?

Being told by one of the biggest names in the business for over 2 decades that BAD ROMEO is definitely NOT a local band – this band should be touring professionally!!!!! Compliments like this are certainly not given out lavishly, so it means a lot to hear these kinds of things!!! Also, being told we are the best band that has ever been in the place!!! And we’ve been fortunate enough to hear this often. And hearing that never gets old!! It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s truth, but it certainly means we are doing something right, and giving the crowd a memorable experience. That’s what we all strive for!!!

What do you hope to accomplish with your music?

To share a lot of fun, positive energy, and great music. To create and maintain friends, fans and a loyal following who appreciate both the effort that goes into doing what we do, and the product that it produces. It’s all about having fun, doing what you love to do. The fact that we get paid for it, is just a bonus!!!

Something about you that no one knows?

We had considered initially naming the band BAD ASS ROMEO. But later decided to drop the word “ASS” and just call it BAD ROMEO to avoid marketing issues.

What is next for the band?

Adding some original music to our arsenal of cover favorites!!! I’m truly looking forward to that!!!

Anything else you want to add?

BAD ROMEO is still young. Only 3 years old, but we’ve been fortunate enough to have managed some amazing accomplishments already. We have gained a wonderful and loyal, loving following, and are recognized as one of the best and most popular bands on the area circuit. I credit our amazing family for this. From the guys in the band, to our dedicated crew, and our faithful followers and supporters, as well as our family (whether it be by blood, marriage or otherwise). We truly have something special, but were are special because of the sum of all these mentioned parts!!! ROMEO RISING!!!
