This is our first official St. Patrick’s Day as RockRevolt™Magazine. We just couldn’t let this perfectly good weekend of an excuse to get shitfaced drunk, dress like slutty Irish barmaids, go commando in kilts and speak in slurred, bastardized Gaelic whilst pretending we’re Irish pass by without first providing a little soundtrack to accompany your shenanigans.
We have seen a ton of other St. Patricks Day party/drinking playlists out there, but we know our readers. METALLICA - “Whiskey In The Jar”
The Dubliners made this Irish traditional song famous when it became their signature song in the 1960s. The epic Irish folk song has been covered by Thin Lizzy as well, but this version by Metallica is our favorite. Enjoy!
BUCK-O-NINE - “Irish Drinking Song”
What would St. Patrick’s Day be without some Irish ska/punk from Buck-O-Nine singing about Mary McGregor the whore and how they “drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and FIGHT!!!”
FIDDLER’S GREEN - “Bugger Off”
Sorry again to The Dubliners, who also made this song famous. We just love this live version by the German speedfolk band Fiddler’s Green who play the audience, well, like fiddles. “Bugger off! You bastards BUGGER OFF!” to which the audience screams, “FUCK YOU!” Ah…the chemistry just brings a tear to me eyes!
AC/DC - “Have A Drink On Me”
Ok…time to break up the Irish for a second with a classic headbanging drinking song by the lads in AC/DC!
FLOGGING MOLLY - “Devil’s Dance Floor”
If this one doesn’t make your balls swing in their kilt - then stay the hell home!
THE TOSSERS - “The Crutch”
Gotta have a little celtic punk from The Tossers or it ain’t St. Patty’s Day! As they say before starting this live ditty, “Bring on the young girls and the free cocaine!” We’re pretty sure St. Patrick said the same after ridding Ireland of all the snakes.
THE POGUES - “Bottle of Smoke”
Basically, any Pogue’s song will do on this fine Irish day of mayhem, but with lyrics like, “”Priest and maidens, drunk as pagans, they had the bottle of smoke. Fuck the yanks and drink their wives, I’m happy as the horses shite, up came the bottle of smoke” - this one is a favorite for the occassion…
THE DROPKICK MURPHYS - “Kiss Me I’m Shitfaced”
When you’ve consumed all of the Irish Whiskey or beer that your liver can handle, here’s the ultimate song to end yet another St. Patrick’s Day, you shitfaced bastards!
