ALBUM REVIEW: THOSE WHO DECEIVE – VOICES AND VESSELS

Voices and Vessels waste no time in the three track EP “Those Who Deceive.” It’s structured to be one of those records that are good enough to be melodic and lure you into a sense of sweet security, before punching you in the face and telling you to wake up.

‘Abandoned Roots’ kicks the EP off first, with Nick Della Mea’s phenomenal vocal performance. The crushing breakdowns from Art Brunazzi’s drums and Joe Zierer’s guitar make sure it’s a track that you’ll remember with its Asking Alexandria and While She Sleeps sound. ‘A Cure to Come Back Home’ utilises more of the clean vocals that contrast with the harshness, but there’s a piano sample that’s oddly placed within the verses as there is in the first song, which just makes it irritating. This then leaves room for ‘Relentless Precision’, which achieves everything a metalcore band could aspire to do without being too cliché – harmony and melody along with hard hitting vocals, an anthemic delivery and a massive “Go fuck yourself” sound.

You have every right to worry when a band calls them either Metalcore or Electronic, as they may just sound like Blood on The Dance Floor – and no one really wants that. Voices and Vessels have every right to wave the Metalcore flag with pride – because they do a damn fine job of it.
