What can I say about Another Lost Year?  I could say they started their career with not one, but two number one hits on iHeart Radio.  I could talk about how their music has been featured on NFL Opening Day, Best Ink and MTV’s The Challenge.  I could talk about how they managed a five week stretch on Sirius XM Octane’s weekly countdown.  Well, that’s just a mouth full so let’s just talk about their new album, Alien Architect.  Off the bat you will notice some political flavor, which is natural.  When it comes to song writing, you write about what is around you; about the issues and what you know.  It doesn’t take long to figure out why Another Lost Year is making so much headway in the Rock community.  Every member fits together and functions like a watch to produce their perfect sound.  It’s hard to imagine the band with anyone different among their ranks.  Every song’s instrumental functions like the soundtrack to some great monologue Clinton Cunanan is sharing with us; The lyrics read off like a message he is sharing with his listeners.  The harmonies on this album are amazing, especially in the first full track, “Wolves.”  I live to hear emphasized rhythm sections on albums and songs like “Bastard Sons” and “On and On” fulfill that desire.  Nathan Walker and Adam Hall provide the back bone throughout the entire album whilst the heart and soul that Cunanan and Jorge Sotomarino contribute are a Grammy deserving fusion of riffs.

They have this ability to grab you, yet you really just float through it like some powerful and blissful trance.  Both guitars have a unique sound the forge the band’s signature sound. They just wouldn’t be the same with just one.  Perhaps the most powerful track on the album would be its closer, “Holding On.”  It has one of their finest guitar solos and has the perfect title because you want to hold on to the music, which you will be able to because you bought the album, right?  The message is strong and will gift you with great personal strength just by placing your ears upon it.

Well written lyrics, great harmonies, and instrumentals that have to ability to put you into a blissful trance prove that this band will keep soaring high on the charts.  There has to be some kind of Alien Architect.  Five Skulls, hands down folks.   Be sure to check your local music stores or iTunes for this phenomenal hit album, Alien Architect.
