For the first time since 2001, the Vans Warped Tour returned to New Orleans, Louisiana for a hot, yet memorable day.
Taking place at Mardi Gras world, where all of the floats for the infamous parades of Fat Tuesday are built, Warped Tour New Orleans offered great food options (including Oreo Churros), a big air conditioned room where two of the stages were placed, and, of course, great music.
Issues from Atlanta, GA started off the day with a hilarious rendition of the Pokémon Theme Song, which lead to more crowd surfers than any other bands that performed.
The day also saw a block of Pop Punk Bands such as Real Friends, State Champs, The Story So Far, Sleeping With Sirens, and Waterparks who had very infatuated and passionate crowds lining the barricades.
Cane Hill delivered the most sentimental set of the day by performing in their hometown. Singer Elijah Witt made a statement about this being the most people who have showed up at a home show and how grateful he was for their attendance.
Warped Tour veterans Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish both had mixed crowd responses with their unique blend of Ska, Jazz, and Rock. The younger crowds did not quite know what to make of either of these bands, but seemed to enjoy the diversity.
The last band of our day was Sum 41 who performed to the most energetic crowd despite the long day in the sun. Every song the band played from their extensive, decades-spanning catalogue was met with a response that gave everyone chills.
Overall, our day at the Vans Warped Tour was great. The staff are always polite and positive. The food is always great and reasonably price and the water refill station is always greatly appreciated.
Until next year!
