The name, The Sixxis, was born when the Atlanta ensemble began creating music together as a band on June 6th of 2006. Starting off initially as a college band, The Sixxis has gone through both lineup changes and style experimentation, until reaching what they are currently today. The Sixxis music merges progressive rock with different influences that each member has, for example: blues, jazz, funk, gospel - altogether making their sound unique, bringing the listeners original and powerful songs with a distinctive vocal style, amazing guitar riffs and emotional lyrics. Their influences are Led Zeppelin, Rush, Muse, System of Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains.
Virginia Beach, Virginia is not a place that's automatically associated with an awesome music scene. Wait; now before I start hearing boos from all of the hard working musicians there, hear me out. It's the beach, bikinis, suntan lotion, it's sand and water and a place to go on vacation. I don't think too many people put Virginia Beach right up there with Nashville or the Hollywood Strip when it comes to a booming music scene. Yet, there is a rumbling going on in the underground music scene and it's from a band approaching the edge of breakthrough and that band is Pillbuster.
The U.K. has given U.S. rock and roll fans plenty of classic bands throughout the history of music. They have blessed us with The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, just to name a few. There definitely seems to have been something magical in the creative water over there to produce so many legendary bands. There's a new band making waves in that creative water across the seas and they are poised to take the U.S. by storm. They go by the name of Heaven's Basement and they have come to chew bubble gum and kick ass. Yes, you guessed it; they are all out of bubble gum.
If you say you’re a lover of great rock and roll music and you’re not familiar with the work of John Corabi, then I say shame on you. Although most people associate him with being “the guy who tried to replace Vince in the Crue,” there are many more layers of musical integrity to this guy. He is finally able to scratch releasing an unplugged album off of his musical bucket list, as his aptly titled Unplugged CD was recently released. Well, before I get into that and my interview with John, let me give you the cliff notes version on his work so far.
