Dire Straits / Making Movies
I still recall the day i stumbled upon the vinyls that my dad used to listen to when he was younger. I was thirteen years old, it was summer so vacation from school and when i was at home, i used to get bored quickly, as we all know, teenagers are 50% invincible and the other 50% they’re bored all the time. Anyway, “Making Movies” by Dire Straits, was one of the first vinyls i’ve ever played on a record player. My dad had a lot of other cool records of bands like The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Police but i chose this one cause the artwork was the most basic i’d ever seen, just this deep, intense red with a little touch of sky blue. I think this one is easily one of their best albums, along with Brothers In Arms.
This album right here is nothing less than the anthem of my teenhood. I remember spending days and nights in my room with the album’s booklet in my hands, learning perfectly all the songs one by one. It was thanks to Linkin Park that the idea of starting a band and trying to create my own music, became something i really needed to do. I just love making music more than anything else in my whole life, it gives you the tools to shape reality cause you can take something that was just a thought inside your head and make it a real thing, shareable with the whole world and able to connect you directly with thousands of strangers who feel exactly the same way that you do. Plus it gives you the chance to create immortality because once you record a song, nothing will be able to destroy it, not even time, it’ll always be there to let you taste that specific moment of your life once again.
John Mayer / Where The Light Is: Live In Las Vegas
I think that at some point, every musician fell in love with a live album, we all have our favourite one. For me “Wherever The Light Is” by John Mayer is that album. I listened to this album so many times that i know evry little detail on it. There was a time in my life where every Sunday morning i woke up, i put this album on my dock station and the house was filled by the beautiful sound and touch of John Mayer’s Stratocaster. It was just perfect.
Isaac Hayes / Hot Buttered Soul
The only way i can describe this masterpiece is saying that this is one of my all-time favorite albums, it’s a milestone in soul-rhythm’n’blues-funk music. “Walk On By” is simply a huge sensual seduction that Isaac built upon slick, throbbing grooves. I discovered that track randomly one night while a was watching a movie. I don’t even remember the movie title cause as soon as the intro of that song started, my mind was blown away, i quickly Shazamed the tune to discover the title. I spent the next weeks listening to that track, it completely stole my mind. And the whole album is simply irresistible.
The Weeknd / Beauty Behind The Madness
Summer of 2015, “I Can’t Feel My Face” was in everyone’s stereo, everywhere. And it just felt so damn good! The one with “the hair, singing bout popping pills” dropped this incredible LP at the end of that summer, giving me the chance to mark that autumn with this stunning soundtrack. He redifined the new wave of RnB, everytime i listen to this album it’s like entering in another dimention, in that dark, melancholic and unique mood upon the foundations of his sound were built on. 65 minutes of pure pleasure!
