SLIPKNOT FANS REACT TO JOEY JORDISON LEAVING BAND
As News Spreads Around The World Of Joey Jordinson's Exit From Slipknot, Fans Take To Facebook To Voice Their Shock And Outrage
Hell hath no fury like a few million pissed off Slipknot “maggots” who learned via a surprise announcement on the bands website late last night that founding member/drummer Joey Jordison was leaving the band for “personal reasons.” As the word began spreading around the web, social media lit up like a Christmas tree with fans voicing their opinions on the news.
Most notably, the Facebook pages of both Slipknot and Joey Jordison are several thousand deep in comments ranging from sadness/disbelief (in the beginning), begging Jordison not to leave - to outright rage at Joey’s decision to leave the band.
There are also major concerns that Jorgison’s departure will mean the end of Slipknot, while many think there is no Slipknot without Jordison. The opinions are plenty, but as the news is sinking in, fans from all continents are mostly asking…WHY?
Here are just some of the now thousands of comments* on the two pages:
Suvi S: I’m so shocked… Joey seemed so sure about the band’s future and eager to make the new album… I didn’t expect this at all.
Jack E: What ever happened to “slipknot is my baby and I’ve got a ton of new material” This is the band you’re leaving the nine for? REALLY? (Jack is referencing Scar The Martyr)
There were many references in threads to Jordison’s many interviews in the recent past, in which he reassured fans of Slipknot that there would be an upcoming album and all was well. One interview in particular, which was just published on Monday, December 9, 2013 by Stereoboard (UK) is very perplexing. The final question was as follows:
What I can say is that there is Slipknot material. We’re writing right now, and we’re all in talks. I got Scar The Martyr going on now and I’m making sure it’s gonna get the attention it deserves, but at the same time, I’m always ready for Slipknot too. I’ve got so much Slipknot material, I started writing this a long time ago. Y’know, when the time is right. Everyone works at their own pace and I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me, I just kinda put myself in the mindset where I’m writing for a certain project. I kinda just take myself to that place, get in that mindset. When the time is right. I think he [Corey] was referring to that old saying: time flies. If you don’t stop and look around then you’re gonna miss it.

RockRevolt®Magazine received the standard statement issued by the band (on their website) from the head of Publicity for Road Runner Records, the label that has both Slipknot and Scar The Martyr. We have requested further information and to confirm/deny some things, but as of this posting, have not received a response. Stay tuned….
