Slipknot brought their Knotfest Road Show to Birmingham, Alabama’s BJCC Legacy Arena on March 29, 2022.
Starting the night off was Ocala, Florida’s Wage War. They played eleven songs ranging from four albums and delivered them with a raging poise that started the night off loud.
In This Moment with their over-the-top theatrics piqued the audience’s interest with singer Maria Brink’s backup dancers, stage themes, and multiple outfit changes. Brink wailed through their songs with grit and the crowd was fully engaged in her performance.
Slipknot exploded on stage with booming pyrotechnics and a piercing version of Disasterpiece that made the entire room move. They played through 20 songs spanning their twenty plus year career, including the 2008 single, Dead Memories, which, prior to this tour, had not made an appearance in a live set since 2016.
The band’s front man, Corey Taylor, also announced that a new Slipknot record would be coming later this year, much to the crowd’s delight.
Knotfest is a testament to the metal community that it is still a popular genre regardless of what mainstream music markets dictate and the fans continue to show up after all this time.
