Just in case you’ve been living in a cave, Dave Grohl is making his debut as a feature documentary director / producer with his film Sound City, inspired after purchasing the same recording console used in the legendary Van Nuys CA studio of the same name. The console was built in 1972 and is considered to be the crown jewel of analog recording equipment and has captured artists such as Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Guns and Roses, Nirvana, Metallica and TONS of other musical legends.
Check out some of these amazing short videos of musicians sharing their first musical memories:
Corey Taylor (Slipknot)
Josh Homme (Queens of The Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures)
Tim Commeford (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave)
Joe Barresi (Recording Engineer who has worked with EVERYONE)
