The boys of Megadeth are at it again – putting their money and hearts where their mouths are by showing that helping others is more important. Never a crew, collectively or individually, to shy away from reaching out with their time, efforts and talents; Megadeth founder Dave Mustaine announced today that the band will be spreading a whole lot of love towards the victims of the recent Oklahoma tornadoes when the mighty force of GIGANTOUR rolls into town! The band has decided to donate the proceeds from their July 16th appearance on Gigantour at Oklahoma City’s Zoo Amphitheatre to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
“Many amazing bands have come forward to aid Oklahomans since the May tornadoes came and tore apart their homes and lives,” said Megadeth founder and front man Dave Mustaine. “Now it’s time for Heavy Metal to give to this community!”
Yes, it’s true. A lot of amazing bands have come forward to help, but Megadeth is planning to throw down with two days of events that are sure to make any metal fan’s heart swell. Starting out the festivities on Monday July 15th, there will be an epic All-Star softball game taking place at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex. Featuring Megadeth and various other GIGANTOUR band members, local celebrities and more, with 100% of the net proceeds also going to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
The ASA Hall of Fame Stadium is located at 2801 NE 50th Street, Oklahoma City, OK and has generously donated the field for the fun, entertaining event. Patrons are asked to make a minimum $5.00 donation to come see some heavy metal and local celebrities have fun on the softball field.
Ok…we are simply speculating here as no “official” announcement of players has been made yet, but this “play call” is what we envision in our heads and would seriously give a left nut to see go down:
David Draiman is on deck as Vinnie Paul pitches him a fast one, D hits it deep into the outfield. It’s going, going…Chad Gray and Will Hunt collide – and it’s saved by Newsted! Jason throws it to Mustaine on 2nd, who whips it to Ellefson on 3rd and Draiman is coming strong into home with Zakk Wylde catching Ellefson’s rocket as Draiman slides, slides, slides … and he’s SAFE! Zakk goes ballistic and starts breaking bats and yelling obscenities! Yeah…that shit right there would be worth way more than $5.00, so all you Oklahoma folks go show your support!
Then of course the GIGANTOUR concert on Tuesday, July 16 is going on – and it shall ROCKETH!
