Next up was Trivium. Trivium has been at the top of the Metal game for the past twelve years. More and more newcomers arrived in front of Stage South. People from Stage South ran around the barricades to get a better look and some just stayed put, knowing that they probably wouldn’t get any closer than they were at that moment. Trivium was on their Hard Drive Live Tour plugging their new album, Silence in the Snow. Trivium may not be something you hear played in the mainstream, but you would be hard pressed to find a Metal fan who hasn’t heard of them. They were one of the big names to mix the thrash metal sound with melodic vocals in the early days. People were confused as to why a band of their caliber was playing so early in the show. Most of their set were from their new album, Silence in The Snow. Title track “Silence in the Snow,” kept the momentum going, letting you know from the get go that this would be an album worth looking into. Scratch that, an album ANY true metal fan would have NO choice but to buy. They played some classics as well for all those nostalgic fans expecting to hear their old favorites. They played “Down from the Sky,” and “Strife” to put to ease the concerned fans from the early years. It was back to the snow with “Until the World Goes Cold” with that creepy harpsicord leading into a heart pounding, followed by the head banging all-American Metal classic “Capsizing the Sea,” and departing “In Waves.” The audience mumbled and cussed when the concert was over because no one had internet connection and that meant that they would have to wait to buy Silence in the Snow. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, in the sixties we had Black Sabbath, in the seventies we had Motorhead, in the eighties we had Metallica, and today we have Trivium.
