It was evening and the bigger names began to show, and that was evidenced by the swell in the crowd. Most of Champions Park was now covered with spectators and the ground in front of Stage North was no longer visible. If girls couldn’t see, they caught a seat on the shoulders of boyfriends and strangers. Hollywood Undead was up next, and as far as the eye could see, people were wearing masks in homage to this rock-rap juggernaut. Hollywood Undead is akin to a toned down ICP, but with less Faygo and a hell lot of less whoo whoop. It was a bit of a change in musical style from then the rest of the festival, but the audience loved them. “Undead” and “Been to Hell” kicked their set off right. Perhaps they had been to hell and back. Maybe their talent came from a deal with the devil. They were a humble band, which is very nice to see with new music giants. The singer went into detail about what an honor it was to tour with a band of the level of Godsmack. It’s nice to see that bands that have ascended the ladder of stardom can still acknowledge the privilege of touring with bands of similar caliber. “Kill Everyone” was an interesting song Charlie Sheen should feel honored to be mentioned in. Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” was used as an intro to “Bullet.” It was something one wouldn’t expect, but it worked. It’s interesting that “Bullet” has such a dark subject matter, yet it feels like a beach party song. You may feel a little confused about it, but hey, it felt right! Enjoy the beat. The show ended with “Day of the Dead” and “Everywhere I Go.” If you can’t make you mind between rap and rock, buy a Hollywood Undead album.
