Devour the Day Seizes the Day the F*ckin’ Year!
The story of a band usually reads the same. Band forms. Band breaks up. Band self produces. Band never leaves a 60 mile radius. Band breaks up. Band becomes a memory. Every once in a while, the story contains a few semi colons and exclamation marks. On the very rare occasion, the Rock Gods rip out those pregenerated pages and rewrite a bands story. Devour the Day is one such rewritten book.
As fresh meat on the scene as Devour the Day, they devoured the scene and spit it back out its almighty slave. After self-producing their 2013 release, “Time & Pressure”, the boys sought glory on the big stage touring with bands like Theory of a Deadman, Hinder, Sick Puppies and more. Recently, Devour the Day found themselves spending Thanksgiving Eve with Korn, New Theory, and a packed house of Jersey rockers.
Local rockers New Theory warmed the crowd up with their special vibe of heavy melodic rock in the vein of Godsmack and the heartbeat like Staind fused with Nickleback. New Theory formed in 2004 and has played a major role in the local Jersey music scene. Steve’s lingering and powerful vocals glide through the heaviest rockers soul and takeover the air with a sense of nostalgia and a feel of freedom from the most commanding emotions. Vocals laced with hypnotizing and heavy melodies and sounds become the perfect cushion for words trapped in angst and disguised in criticism for societal tendencies. With a solid and far reaching fan base, New Theory held the crowd at the Starland Ballroom on November 27th and captivated the unfamiliar fan. These Port Monmouth, NJ rockers will be releasing their newest effort, ‘Dark Days’ at their cd release this February 15, 2014. Be sure to stop by The Saint in Asbury Park, NJ to be one of the first to get your hands on a copy. It’s sure to carry the same unsuspecting punch and motivated aggression these local boys are known for delivering with gritty guitar riffs and haunting lyrical perplexity laid over thumping drums and complimentary bass lines.
As direct support for Korn, Devour the Day produced a high energy and exhilarating set full of well played intentions infused with high octane rock and a momentum that carried the sea of already willing fans to jump and move. Move to the sound. Move to the words. Move to the momentum. Move to move. And ‘Move On’. ‘Move On’ was just one of the songs that proved to this Jersey crowd that Devour the Day was worthy to share the stage with rock icons Korn and that these boys not only had the chops and clout to take over the scene, but that they had already started. “Get Out of My Way” and “Respect” secured the stage was theirs as they continued to rip it open and pound the ground like so many other musicians have done on that very stage. The energy was stable and solid. The music was tight and together. The vibe was intense and intentional. As a new sound to the genre, Devour the Days live show professed clearly that they were not the same book you’ve been reading and not the cookie cutter boy-meets-band-band-meets-the-world story. They were fresh. They were fierce. They were fast to grab the attention of the sometimes ADD Jersey crowd (It’s okay, I’m allowed. I’m from Jersey) and hold it for the entire set. They devoured the time they were given, made it their bitch, and left in a cloud of dust void of an apology. None was needed. We liked it.
Fresh off such said success from touring, Devour the Day is pleased to announce their RE-RELEASE of “Time & Pressure”, their debut effort. Surely a shining example of a year of hard work, dedication to Devour the Day, and a striving motivation to excel, the new partnership with Caroline will see the album “Time & Pressure” with new life breathed into it. Look for a new song called “Check Your Head” to be added to the sequence and an acoustic version of their first single, “Good Man”. Legendary talent, Brian Malouf (Queen, Michael Jackson, Dave Matthews Band) took the already accomplished “Time & Pressure” and manipulated its sound and concept as only a skilled producer/mixer can do. Devour the Day and “Time & Pressure” will finally have a tangible presence and will be available both digitally and in all major retail outlets on January 14, 2014 as before only saw accessibility through digital downloads.
“DEVOUR THE DAY is one of the great breakout stories of 2013,” says Caroline President Dominic Pandiscia. “We are incredibly excited to be working with them and Fat Lady Music to ensure that 2014 will be the year that DEVOUR THE DAY is established as a cornerstone band in the Rock genre.” See the boys on tour currently with In This Moment, Butcher Babies, and All Hail the Yeti as part of the Hellpop Tour II. Be sure to take advantage of your chance to be in their crowd as their viciously victorious sound swirls all around you.
