Instead of Columbus Central, it was Juggalo Central on December 31st 2015. Many Juggalos spent their New Year’s attending the New Year’s Evil 8, at the Alrosa Villa to see Twiztid, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Lex the Hex, and many other artists rock their night to the next year!
This is a tight group of artists who are all going for the same goal, with a similar theme. Going for a new era of music that that intertwines horrorcore, rock, gangsta rap, and speaks many truths.
Before I set the scenery of this rockin’ night, let me take you to history class to fully understand how hard these dudes work!
Blaze Ya Dead HomieThe new shiny label is named Majik Ninja Entertainment. The founders of Majik Ninja Entertainment (Twiztid) have many similar artists on the label, such as Blaze Ya Dead Homie, The R.O.C, and Lex The Hex Master.
Twiztid performs a style of hardcore hip hop and have released nine studio albums, nine EPs, seven compilations, and one mixtape. September 12, 2014, InGrooves released its upcoming New Release Packet for October and that’s when Majik Ninja Entertainment was born. Since their new label they have released albums such as A New Nightmare and The Darkness.
Blaze has worked with many artists in his time of entertaining, working with the labels:
Psychopathic Records (1998-2013), Grundy Entertainment (2013-2014), Majik Ninja Entertainment (2014-present).
During Twiztid’s and Blaze Ya Dead Homie’s 2015 GOTJ seminar it was announced that The Casket Factory released on January 15, 2016. On August 18, 2015, Majik Ninja Entertainment released Blaze’s first single off The Casket Factory via soundcloud. The single is titled “Ghost” and features Kung Fu Vampire. A few days later the second single was released titled “Wormfood”.
Now that you get the idea of who they are and what they represent, Let’s fast forward to the night of New year’s Evil 8. Before the doors opened for the show, there was a VIP signing around 5:30 P.M. Patrick Desmond (Photographer) and I were able to meet Twiztid & Blaze and take in the venue before the show later. In the front there is a bar on one side of the room, merchandise on the other side, and the floor and stage at the back. Let me just say the way the venue is set up is very convenient. After the signing, the artists went back to the hotel for interviews and to get ready for the show. As Patrick and I drove to their hotel to interview Blaze, we could see the line for the show reaching around the building and into the parking lot.
After the interview we arrived back to the venue and there was no more parking and people were parking across the street, it was that packed! The show started with Insane E taking the stage and was followed by more openers, such as: The Real Chaos, Menace To Sobriety, and Lex The Hex Master.
When Blaze came on stage, all the Juggalos went crazy! I was standing stage left by the speakers and did not hear one dead note (no pun intended.) Blaze’s new and improved sound is a reflection of classic gangsta rap and reminds me of the old school tunes of Dr. Dre, Notorious B.I.G, etc. What he adds to the mixture of classic rap is also his passion for horrorcore. I respect that he was the only artist there that actually put on a show and not just stood there and rapped.
He had a three-piece suit on, including a top hat, cane, and his face looked like a skull. Such a classy dead gangsta. Hah! Everyone who was paying attention could tell that he took time to choreograph his show to add to his story.
After Blaze, the crew took time to set up for Twiztid and their band. When Twiztid came on, they came on with a bang! They were the only crew with a live band in their show and made the speakers jump off the stage!
Not only were the artists badasses on this rockin’ New Year’s night, but also the “Juggalos!” I never seen such a tight group of loyal fans in my life! Just good people who love good music and call each other “family”.
When we left after the show and into the New year, I stopped and asked a Juggalo for a smoke and without hesitation, gave me one, lit it and said “Of course sister, have a great New Year!”
I would no doubt recommend experiencing the Juggalo life!
