On a seasonably warm April 5th night in Lexington, Kentucky, Styx rolled into town. It wasn’t their first time in this beautiful city, and we surely hope it won’t be the last. The crowd packed into Eastern Kentucky University’s Center for the Arts, and the place was packed! You’ve gotta love a sold out Styx show in the springtime! They ripped through a 20-song setlist, stopping to chat a bit and connect with the crowd. It was a wonderful night to “Sail Away” down memory lane with some of their greatest hits that made many of our collective youths great. Tommy Shaw, James “J.Y.” Young, and Ricky Phillips brought the vocals and the strings to life in the way that has made them great over their decades on the stage. Lawrence Gowan handled his keyboard duties like a champ, also lending his voice to the rest. And, of course, Todd Sucherman kept them all in time, as he always does, rocking his drum kit like the professional he is. It’s hard to beat a Styx show; even after all of these years and line up changes, they still sound so good, so solid together. They’re a band for the ages, and they keep on truckin’!!
Styx continues to tour into early 2017, so do yourself a favor, find a “Little Extra Time” on your hands, and grab tickets today!
Do NOT miss Styx!! And if you do, we’ll tell your “Mother Dear” and you’ll be a “Lonely Child”… get where we’re going with this?
Honestly, it was a great night of good music, and we hope to see them out there again soon!
