INTERVIEW: NIGHTMARE

nightmare - promoThe band, Nightmare, was formed in 1979 in Grenoble, France. In their early career the band used to play classic heavy metal and later changed to power metal with thrash and death influences.

The band was in the spotlight in 1983 when they opened for Def Leppard at the Alpexpo of Genobre. Getting the attention of Ebony Records producers which published the LPs, Waiting for the Twilight in 1984 and Power of the Universe in 1985, which later was reissued by Dream Records and in 1987 the band disbanded.

Like a Phoenix arising from the ashes, in 1999 the band returned, this time with the band members taking on new responsibilities. And since then the band has released seven studio albums, one EP and two live albums. Amidst the turbulence of releasing their newest album, The Aftermath, we at RockRevolt got to sit down with David Amore and got an exclusive interview.
tape divider red Hi. How are you doing?

Hi, I’m fine thank you.

Are you excited for this new album?

We are not really excited, just curious to know what the reaction of the fans will be. Knowing that this album is very different than the last one, we are not excited, but maybe a little bit scared.

Understandable. How did you guys come up with the title The Aftermath?Nightmare - Aftermath

It is the logical next step from all our last albums. A lot of things happened between in the past and now.

Are there collaborations on this new album?

Yes. David Boutarin sings on the song “Ghost in the mirror” and Jonathan Menard did all the keyboards.

This is the second album with the new label, AFM Records. How are you guys liking working with them?

They are really good and have opened a lot of doors for us, especially in Germany. We can say that we have been fortunate to perform in Germany because of AFM.

What made you switch labels?

Times are hard for everyone, and sometimes a label can’t offer us what we are looking for. But we keep good connections with them.

Are you guys taking The Aftermath on tour?

Yes of course! We’ll be on tour in October with the Wacken Road Show N°2 with Lacrimas Profundere, Grail Knight and Jaded Heart.

Who are you playing with currently or have played with this year that you are really excited to play with?

The most exciting was to play twice on the same stage as Iron Maiden. I’m excited also to go on tour. That is the real dreamed.

What would you say that have changed since the formation of the band in 1979?

I think the most changes are in the music itself. It’s more modern and maybe more aggressive compared to the heavy metal songs of the 80’s that Nightmare was doing.

And what hasn’t changed?

Our friendship! That is always the same and always true.

Thank you for the interview. Good luck with the new album!

Thanks!
