An unexpected creative chemistry sparked a drive for this brand new project from Nightwish vocalist Floor Jansen and Pagan’s Mind guitarist Jorn Viggo Lofstad. After spontaneously joining forces on stage during the ‘All Star Jam’ at Progpower USA Festival in 2007, Northward was born- a true rock and roll extravaganza with a strong and euphoric sound sure to captivate fans of Alter Bridge, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters and more. Although the project was initially postponed due to Floor and Jorn’s tight schedules and main bands, Northward has found its way back into the spotlight- releasing their debut album on October 19th via Nuclear Blast Records.

Senior Journalist Anabel DFlux had the pleasure of catching up with Floor via Skype exclusively for RockRevolt Magazine, connecting California and Sweden with the touch of a button. The two had a lovely chat about the conception of Northward, the debut albums recording process, and even some tidbits about upcoming Nightwish news and Floor’s involvement in the upcoming Metal Allegiance album! As a bonus, Floor’s appreciation and admiration for exotic animals partnered with Anabel’s side hustle of working with wolves led to a fascinating discourse about our natural world.
