If you like your music raw and undefinable, then the just announced West Coast run by Texas based Alien Knife Fight, Scott H Biram, and Jesse Dayton should be right up your alley. AKF front woman, Monique Ortiz, has been working her unique brand of Dark Bluesy/Indie Rock/Punk in duos for 25 years, and while this project is significantly heavier than her work with Bourbon Princess and A.K.A.C.O.D., her signature growling lyrics and 2-string slide bass and fretless bass are typically outstanding. Their most recent album, Some Girls, is available to download via bandcamp, and you can get a sample of their live show in the music video for “Jerkoff.”
