Generation Axe shreds the Uptown Theater in Kansas City

On April 15th Generation Axe made their stop at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City, and what a night it was. Steve Vai thought to assemble some of the best guitar masters from around the globe and unleash them to packed houses nightly. Well Mr. Vai thank you, that was a brilliant idea and were glad you and the rest of the men are bringing his unbelievable show to the masses. The line up consist of Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Zakk Wylde, Nuno Bettencourt, and Tosin Abasi.
Each guitarist brought to the stage their own special style that makes them one of the best at what they do, weather it was Abasi’s technical work on his 8 string guitar or the sound of Malmsteen’s scalloped frets, it was a guitar lovers paradise. My favorite part of the night was the cover of Sideways by Nuno Bettencourt and Zakk Wylde. The two of them played the song with such passion in both their voices and guitars that it kind of just left me in awe. And speaking of covers it was Zakk Wyldes cover of NIB that had me searching for some ear plugs. Wylde’s set was the loudest set I have ever heard in my life. It was insanely good but damn it was loud. The night ended with all of them playing again together just as they opened the show. This is a must see show if you want to see some of the craziest finger work and hear some tasty riffs by the best in the business.
