Calling all punks! Calling all punks! The Tracys are releasing their third album, Humdinger, and have allowed us here at RockRevolt the exclusive world premiere of the album TWO WHOLE DAYS before everyone can get their paws on their own copy! From the rancid shores of Brooklyn’s Gowanus Canal rose a quartet of punk rockers called The Tracys.
Raised on 80’s punk with a side of maple syrup, Alberta native Dave Klym (The Mike Plume Band, The Populars, Itch) is the driving force behind the band’s monster hooks and blazing solos. On rhythm guitar, John Payne (Puppetbox) has been known to contribute harmonies as silky as his well-coiffed hair. Additionally, Larry Mancini holds down the fort on the bass guitar with a little bit of whimsy, and a belly full of pizza. And, anchoring this operation is drummer Matt Ernst, whose thunderous beats form the foundation for the group’s aggressive style.
“Over the years we’ve written a bunch of songs, and Humdinger is really the most cohesive version of what we’re going for. While our earlier efforts may have been a little wide-ranging in terms of feel, we worked to make this record the vision of one band, as opposed to a bunch of individuals. We owe a lot of this to the simple fact that we’ve become a lot closer as friends, which makes the whole writing / recording process more collaborative, honest, and fun.”
“In terms of inspiration for Humdinger, we drew from what we saw happening in the world around us – the result is a predictably angry, dark record with moments of levity and humor. Writing for us usually starts with an idea or concept and Davey (lead guitar, vocals) will then show up with the bones of a song written, and we’ll just workshop it as a band until we end up with something we’d want to hear. We record all our stuff at The Compound down in Chattanooga, TN with our good friend Derek Mazurek – we typically play everything together as a band to hopefully capture some of the energy of our live show, then we’ll go back in and do vocals / solos etc.”
Without further ado, feast your ears on our latest punk obsession, Humdinger.
