chrissy.amphlettChrissy Amphlett the lead singer of the Divinyls passed away on Sunday at age 53.  Her husband released a statement explaining,  “…Chrissy succumbed to the effects of breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.”  Amphlett revealed she had multiple sclerosis in 2007 and was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010.

The Divinyls released six albums between 1982 and 1996, but were best known for their 1991 song “I Touch Myself”  which was featured in the movie “Prelude to a Kiss” and later used in “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.”

Chrissy was just named one of the top 10 favorite singers of all-time in Australia by the major news network News.com.au at the beginning of April 2013.  A befitting title and one we are glad she got to see before heading up to rock n’ roll heaven.  R.I.P….

Crank up “I Touch Myself” for Chrissy!
