What happens when you put three musical titans together? Pure genius, that’s what! Power trio The Winery Dogs is made up of Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold), Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big) and Richie Kotzen (Mr. Big, Poison). Three instantly recognizable names in Rock and Roll, have come together and are taking us down a path of musical mastery. 311 has always been a band that’s been able to come original. They’ve been on the scene for over twenty years now, and not many other alternative rock, hip-hop, rap rock, rap metal, funk, reggae, jazz fusion bands can claim that kind of longevity. But this combination of sounds plays a direct role in 311′s enormous staying power. The band set out this summer on their tenth annual Unity Tour with Cypress Hill and G. Love and Special Sauce, and it’s proving to be just as insanely entertaining as past years.
In an industry where the spirit of real rock and roll seem to be getting pushed to the backburner by corporate regurgitated fluff pop and meaningless rap, a band based out of San Diego, California is looking to shake things up. Rock music seems to have gotten a bit sanitized over the last few years and
The Suicide Chords are looking to shake things up a bit. If you haven’t heard of these guys yet, then here is your introduction to what possibly could be the next big thing. Now remember, when they blow up big, don’t forget it was RockRevolt Magazine who told you about them.
Saucy Monky is an interesting mix of 90s alternative, great songwriting, catchy hooks and a healthy dose of attitude that’s down right infectious and hard to resist. They are one of those bands that you may not know the name, but you know the music. The band has had several songs featured on such Nickelodeon shows as Drake and Josh, iCarly and Zoey101. They have also been featured on Veronica Mars, Alcatraz and Blue Bloods. Self-described as one part Alanis Morissette, one part Garbage and a touch of Aimee Mann; the band has been crafting their sound for over ten years now on the indie circuit.
Virginia Beach, Virginia is not a place that’s automatically associated with an awesome music scene. Wait; now before I start hearing boos from all of the hard working musicians there, hear me out. It’s the beach, bikinis, suntan lotion, it’s sand and water and a place to go on vacation. I don’t think too many people put Virginia Beach right up there with Nashville or the Hollywood Strip when it comes to a booming music scene. Yet, there is a rumbling going on in the underground music scene and it’s from a band approaching the edge of breakthrough and that band is Pillbuster.
