ALBUM REVIEW – Nova by Raveneye

If you’re like me, you’ve been waiting with painful anticipation for a full length Raveneye album since last April’s EP, Breaking Out.  If you’ve been listening on CD, you’ve probably worn it down from playing those five glorious tracks over and over again.

Our interest has been piqued, and since September 23, 2016, we’ve had a full length album to listen to. That’s right, folks, Raveneye has put out another masterpiece, an eleven track work of art titled Nova. From start to finish, Nova will have your attention. There aren’t any filler tracks. No tracks you’ll buy individually on iTunes. This three-piece powerhouse has put out one of the greatest Rock albums since Led Zeppelin II.

What makes Raveneye great, as you’ll learn when you listen to the album, is they’re more than just some fast passed Hard Rock group. The melody and harmonies on this album are terrific. “Out of the Rain,” for instance, is one of the best put together songs on the album. Really gets in your head, you know? Takes you from A to B and back again.

“Eternity” will be one of the best songs you listen to, not just on the album or by Raveneye. Oli Brown displays his song writing and guitar skills with this song. The use of the acoustic guitar and piano as a lead in to such a triumphant Rock anthem is phenomenal. I could write a ten-page review on that song alone. The way you’re taken from that low moment and then when the full band steps in, and Oli’s guitar – well, there’s nothing like it. When they talk about Reveneye twenty years from now, “Eternity” will be that song, among many others of course, that has become synonymous with the trio, like Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun.”

This is not to diminish any other songs. “Supernova” is one hell of a rush, my friends and casual readers. The band is at its best for this tune. You could play it till our sun goes supernova and not get sick of it. Aaron Spiers and Kevon Hickman truly shined on this one.

From start to finish, Nova is a masterpiece. This is truly a good sign of things to come from this magnificent band.  Be sure to get this album right now. Also make sure you stay up to date on their tour because, believe me, if you think listening to their albums is great, you’ll be blown away when you see them live!!
