ALBUM REVIEW: FINAL DRIVE – DIG DEEPER

Final Drive are back in business with maybe their finest album till today. Following the 2014’s Lifeswork, the thrash metal St. Louis based band introduced us Dig Deeper, their latest accomplishment, earlier this month and the welcome was way beyond expectations. After all, it’s the fans who made it happen.

Dig Deeper was totally funded by Final Drive’s most loyal fans who went to the Kickstarter fund raising platform and contributed to the creation of this record, showing that love for metal can do miracles.  “We owe our fans this record, they made it happen, they supported us and it’s changed our abilities to present our music”, they say. This 10-track brand new album represents the core of Final Drive and appears to be their most mature work.

It’s the 5th studio album of the band formed back in 2002 consisting of Nathan Easter (Guitar), Jordan Gaw (Vocals), Alex Wheeler (Drums) and Raymond Tucker (Bass). In this album, as they clearly state, they “explore new avenues, arrangements and melodies” alongside the producer of Jast and Kingdom of Sorrow, to name a few, Charlie Bellmore. It is mixed by Nicky Bellmore (Dexters Lab Studio, Toxic Holocaust) and mastered by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Rob Zombie).

The only bad thing with this record is that you can’t decide which song of all is your favorite. However, if I had to choose one this would probably be “Built to Break” with a killer beat, followed by “This Is How”, although I really loved the rhythm of “Follow The Curse” and the amazing musical intro of “Beneath Us”. Jordan Gaw, the lead vocalist, on the opening song “This Is How” screams his lungs out showing the seemingly unlimited potentials of his voice.

For all of you metal lovers out there, Dig Deeper is definitely an album to buy and believe me when I say you’re going to listen to it in “repeat all”, over and over again. And as they have perfectly written in the song “The Last Time” they “Got a one way ticket” to success and they “ain’t no coming back”!

Track List:

  1. This Is How
  2. Built To Break
  3. The Last Time
  4. Six Feet Down
  5. Want It All
