ALBUM REVIEW: KXM’s SCATTERBRAIN

A second album from the Metal supergroup, KXM seemed too much to hope for as well as it holding up to the original.  Well, here we are three years later, and the trio is putting out its sophomore collaboration, Scatterbrain.  The title track and “Breakout” were perfect voices for the singles. They provide a perfect taste to an album that is phenomenal in its entirety.  “Breakout” showcases each of the members signature skills; tireless heart beat drumming from Ray Luzier, one king hell guitar solo from George Lynch, and some of the smoothest vocals in metal from Dug Pinnick and terrific harmonies all around.  The album only gets better from there, with songs like the trippy with a hint of gypsy “Calypso,” and “True Deceivers.”  “Panic Attack” is the perfect companion album to those stressful, maddening days.  It has a strangely soothing feel to it and some phenomenal drum work from the KoRn alumni.   “True Deceivers” has a bit of that old grunge feel to it, though there weren’t too many guitar solos as good as the one featured on this track back in the nineties.  Pinnick scatters vocals in an almost Blues pattern and is met at the end of the song with one of Lynch’s many impressive guitar solos, changing stage speed of the song without changing the mood.

Scatterbrain is Metal at its finest with top notch vocals, drums, and some of the most artistic guitar solos of the genre.   Unlike the average album, there are more than just a few memorable tracks, but hey, that’s to be expected when you put a band like this together.  If you like the muck and other bands or even want something different, this album is a good buy.  This is an original sound put together from three great Rock veterans earning our top rating of five skulls.  KXM’s Scatterbrain from Rat Pak Records will be released on March seventeenth on iTunes, at your local music shops or pre-order now at https://www.ratpakrecordsamerica.com/kxm.  The singles, “Scatterbrain” and “Breakout” are currently available for purchase.
