LIVE SHOW COVERAGE – THE DREAMING

Local Los Angeles legends The Dreaming took over Bar Sinister this past Saturday as one of the first highly anticipated shows of the year. However, this was no ordinary Dreaming performance- this concert featured a reunion of the band’s fan favorite lineup: Chris Hall, Johnny Haro, Jinxx (Black Veil Brides), and Brent Ashley (Static X/Combichrist). A one-off show, anyone who managed to attend the venue on this very night was able to witness a piece of Dreaming history.

With the venue packed to the brim with fans, The Dreaming performed to a rather excited and eager crowd. The Dreaming’s set list revolved around their debut album Etched In Blood (2008), featuring songs that the audience members hadn’t heard live in years- partly due to their complexity. According to front man Chris Hall, the band intended to play the “forgotten songs of Etched in Blood”. It was quite a treat to see the music be brought to fruition by the original players, their passion was definitely felt by the fans (and very well reciprocated!). Of course, there was a Stabbing Westward song thrown into the mix- because the concert wouldn’t be complete without at least one!

Chris Hall truly knows how to captivate an audience- he grabbed their attention from the very first song and held it up until the very last. His performance always involves fervent vocals, heaps of fan interaction, and a very friendly and approachable nature towards fans of his music. An absolute fan favorite. Drummer Johnny Haro, another complete fan favorite, really brought the drums to life. His percussion skill is unmatched by many in the industry, and he always performs with a wild fervor. Jinxx is certainly no stranger to the stage, having played and toured extensively in Black Veil Brides. He brought all of his energy and signature style to the performance, impressing both the audience and music enthusiasts alike with his extremely fast playing. Another stage veteran, Brent Ashley, really entertained his side of the stage with powerful backing vocals and enthusiastic head banging! With every band the man performs with, he never ceases to put on an excellent performance that demonstrates both his skill as a bassist and his natural talent for the limelight.

A show that was definitely a shame to miss, Bar Sinister really started the year off right booking this band. You won’t want to miss the next Dreaming performance, that’s for certain. Senior journalist Anabel DFlux was there to catch all of the excitement on camera!
