Just search “Saxon Wacken 2014” You’ll see the full
orchestrated show.
Are you going to go full orchestra on Battering
Ram?
No. What we are going to do is make another DVD
with that footage. We are filming a London show in
a couple of days, and we are going to put that out
on Pledge. We are going to get unique artwork done
for it, maybe give some money to charity, and see
how that goes.
Speaking of charity, during your Call to Arms Tour,
you had some fans be able to pay a little something
and they would get to see you all at sound check,
and that money was donated to the Nordoff Robbins
Music Therapy and Childine Charities. Are those
your charities of choice, or do you have other
charities that you support?
We use Nordoff Robbins because Iron Maiden’s
manager and I do it together. We put it into his
charity. We just chose that one because he chose
it. We do sometimes Help for Heroes and other
different kinds of charities. We are doing something
similar now with VIP tickets. We are not giving it
all to charity, but we are giving a percentage, and
we are using the same charity: Nordoff Robbins.
They help children through music. It’s connected to
music, and that is why we use them.
Perfect. When should we expect to see it?
We were looking at around August for getting it
together.
I may have to interview you again then. I’ll ask you
the same series of questions.
And I will have a huge Battering Ram tattooed to
my back.
We spoke last year about Unplugged and Strung
Up, and how you went full orchestra with that, and
that you were thinking that bringing in a full blown
orchestra would be difficult, but you might bring
in a keyboard player with some samples, or bring
in an ensemble with a violin and cello. Any more
entertaining of those notions?
We did it actually! We did it at the Wacken Festival
last year. If anyone wants to see it, it’s on YouTube,
orchestrated show.
