you released those on February 13th. Heavy Metal
Thunder’s re-entering the market with a second CD,
Live at Bloodstock. I’ve noticed that you all release a
lot in February. Is there something about February?
(laughs) Nothing to do with me. Maybe it’s
the record company getting a bit skint around
that time. Maybe they spend all their money
at Christmas, and they want to release stuff in
February. I have no idea why February. Maybe it’s
because other bands don’t release stuff in February,
and it’s a good window for us. I don’t have anything
to do with the release dates.
We spoke last year around this same time about The
Saxon Chronicles, and that you were thinking about
making a Saxon Chronicles Part II. Is that the other
one that released this February?
Yes. That is a great release as well. It is called
Warrior of the Road, which is what the tourists call
35th anniversary tour. It’s officially called Saxon
Chronicles II, Warrior of the Road. It’s a dual title.
It’s been a couple of years since you released
Sacrifice. Are you working on any new stuff?
We are working on the new album, when I find
time to do that. We just have a few shows to do
next week, to finish off the 35th anniversary that
got postponed. So, we are working on it. We have a
few titles. I have quite a lot of lyrics. I just need to
match them to the music, and we are away!
What are some of the ideas?
One of the possibilities is Stand Your Ground. It is
a Saxon-ish sort of saying. We do a lot of “never
surrendering” and “standing our ground.” So that is
one idea. The other idea is Battering Ram.
I think you should go with that: Battering Ram.
It’s unusual (Battering Ram). We will see. I’m going
to talk to the artist. A lot of it has to do with the
artwork.
Are you going to go with the same artist that has
done previous work for you?
Yeah. We will use an artist who is a friend of mine,
who does huge oil painting and other artwork.
