All Hail The Yeti will be releasing ‘Screams From A Black Wilderness’ Album on April 8, 2016. We had the opportunity to talk with Connor Garritty about the upcoming album.

Conner how’s it going Bud?

Connor:  I am doing great how are you?

Doing all right. Are you just kicked back enjoying the day?

Connor:  Yup, its not raining, not snowing, so I can’t complain.

Did you get much snow out there in your part of Cali?

Connor:  We get nothing, no rain, no snow ever.

It had been a mild winter here in Kansas so I cannot complain.

Connor:  Are you in Kansas City?

Yeah on the Kansas side.

Connor:  I love it there, we have been there a few times, shit what is the name of the theater there?  The Midland, played there twice and played the Riot Room.  Have eaten at Oklahoma Joe’s twice, I love it.

I live about five minutes from an Oklahoma Joe’s.

Connor:  Do you love it? Do you eat it all the time or are you over it?

It’s not my favorite in the city, I am not going to lie.

Connor:  Really its not? What is your favorite?

I don’t want to admit it and I will probably omit it form this but I would rather have Famous Dave’s.

Connor:  I really don’t know all the different places in the city but on our first tour in 2012 we played the Riot Room and our friends took us to Oklahoma Joe’s in the morning after our show.  I don’t know if it was because we partied all night, or what. I actually fell asleep on the couch, they woke me up and said we were going to eat barbeque. We pulled up to a gas station and I was like really we are not eating here.  Its probably the best I have ever had.

It is top of all the list.  See my favorite; Famous Dave’s, is a chain out of Minnesota so I don’t like to admit that being from KC. Well man let’s talk ‘Screams From A Black Wilderness’.  Are you getting pretty excited to get that out to the public?

Connor:  Yeah man I couldn’t even explain it. It’s been a long road since the first record. This one is almost there.  Were just counting down the days now.

It was described to me as a horror story concept album.

Connor:  Our publicist is kind of going with that concept and I guess it kind of is.  There are two songs on the new record that coincide with one of the songs on the old record.   It wasn’t something that we planned out or anything. As the songs get written things just get mapped out.  We were like I want to do a song like this or I want to da a song about that or whatever the subject becomes.   When we wrote the new song it will be the first single I think.  I don’t know what I can tell you, I don’t want to spill the beans or anything.

Is it the new song you guys just did the video for that you’re releasing in a few days?

Connor:  Yes.

Spill the beans man you are fine

Connor:  The song is called ‘The Flames’.  When we got into that song and the music started to get to where it was we were like man this could go really well with ‘After The Great Fire’ so let’s do this for like the prequel, for like the song before to kind of lead into the story.  We wrote another song earlier that became a part of it.  It became part one, so basically shooting reverse order.

Did that help with the theme of the record having the first song there and being able to bill off of it?

Connor:  ‘The Great Fire’ was a song that people and the fans just connected to. It became a fan favorite, if you will, and we started with the new record ‘Before The Flames’. It was the first one that Alan and I sat down and completed from start to finish.  After that one was written we were like man this could be really cool let’s put them all together.  When it came time to do the videos we thought it was going to work perfect as kind of a trilogy shot in reverse.  When you see the first video it doesn’t really make since but it’s really cool visually.  Then you see the second one it makes a little more since and then the third one comes out and you watch them in the proper order and you’re like oh ok.

How do you like the video shooting process?

Connor:  This time around it was really cool.  We did the video for ‘The Art of Mourning’ and what we wanted to do verses what we were able to do were two different things.  We had a big, big idea of what was going to happen and it didn’t.  Time constraints and financially the last label didn’t put up the money we need to do it.  Even though it turned out awesome it just didn’t convey how we wanted it to look.  There were a couple of holes in the story and stuff like that.  This time around it was two really good friends that did the video with us. We worked really close together on everything.

So with having a couple of buddies helping you do the video you were able to be a little more hands on?

Connor:  For the ‘After The Great Fire’ and ‘Before The Flames’ videos I actually worked super close with the director. The guys in the bad were super cool with it and put their trust in me. At the end of the day it was more of my vision and my ideas.  They told me what they think was cool and what they think was not cool.  We kind of all know where to put our opinion in when it matters.  Otherwise it is counterproductive.  The guys are really great about it, they are pretty trustworthy, its really cool.

So when you guys going to be hitting the road?

Connor:   Were hoping like right away.  We are playing a couple of shows in April right when the record comes out.  We are playing the Whiskey a Go Go on April 7th and then we have a couple of other shows on the West Coast.  Then we are playing a tattoo convention in Sacramento, the NorCal Tattoo music & Arts Festival. Then we have a couple of other things we are about to release but I can’t say anything about yet till we get everything confirmed. Yeah man we are ready to go and push the record fully.

Alright man, time to get back to your friends and fun.  Anything to say to the fans out there?

Connor:  I just thank you to everybody for supporting us.  It really has been a long road and we just want to apologize for there being a few years between records but you will not be disappointed.  Thank you everybody for sticking around.
