MOTORHEAD AND OTHERS CANCEL CONCERTS DUE TO ATTACKS

Motörhead announced a short time ago that they have officially cancelled their scheduled concert in Paris on Sunday night (11/15/2015).

The band wrote the following on their Official Facebook page:

Fans were somewhat prepared for this cancellation due to Motörhead’s previous post on Friday evening, well before it was announced that the city of Paris had cancelled all major events.

This is just the latest in announcements of huge bands cancelling shows.

It all started first thing on Saturday morning with U2 and Coldplay being amongst the first acts to respond to the devastating acts in Paris Friday night by announcing cancellations of scheduled performances.

Coldplay postponed a Tidal live stream of their Los Angeles concert Friday night and U2 postponed a pair of shows in Paris tonight and tomorrow, one which was heavily hyped to air live on HBO.

Irish DJ Dave Fanning spoke to Bono on Saturday morning via telephone. Bono shared some insight into how he thinks the attacks are impacting music fans around the world:

“If you think about it, the majority of victims last night are music fans. This is the first direct hit on music that we’ve had in this so-called War on Terror. And it’s very upsetting….These are our people,” said Bono. “This could be me at a show, you at a show…It’s a very recognizable situation. All our thoughts are with the Eagles of Death Metal fans.”

The biggest shocker came from Foo Fighters, who announced they are calling off the rest of their tour:

Deftones cancelled their three night sold out shows, which were to be played at the Bataclan Theatre November 14, 15 and 16. Members of the Deftones were in the audience watching their friends in Eagles of Death Metal when the shooting began.

All band members of both Deftones and Eagles of Death Metal were able to escape uninjured, but EODM Merch Manager, Nick Carpenter, was confirmed to be one of the casualties in this horrific incident.
