Indie bands fuel our hearts with a passion to do what we do, and when we see former Indie Band of the Week, Tridon, launch a new album, we revel in the chance to review it. A month late, but with no less love in hearts to support one of our favorites, we jumped right into it like a fat kid in a candy shop, snarfing it up lick by lick, and savoring every moment as if it were the last!
Tridon - band

“What You Are” explodes into life with a burst of distorted guitar blasting into syncopated drum beats and emotionally charged lyrics that take you into a passive aggressive staccato solo drum.

With a title such as “Edge of Redemption”, one would expect a heavy endeavor, but this song bursts open with an upbeat with and positive sensations, and promotes the overload into a flourishing guitar solo. The emotions flow through the lyrics, enveloping the listener with the sounds of the optimistic guitar, whilst the drum give this song a uplifting sensation, showing that the journey his band has been on is on the far side of all obstacles in their path.

Static opens  “Perseverance” and dives into a driving rhythm as Rick’s vocals take over with a tenor that push straight into a heavy groove. It’s juicy and aggressive, just the way I like it!

A deep low guitar creeps into “Time to Rise”, like a snake across the framework created by the driving rhythm of the drum. Rick’s vocals swoop over the charging rhythm guitar, as the song meanders in and out of the chorus and verse. It drives into a lusciously lilting tempo that gives the song a lifelike quality.

The power ballad style of “Seize the Moment” brings forth a nostalgic that makes you want to raise your cellphone to the sky and sway your head. If you haven’t seized a moment in your life, you’d better get your ass in gear! The varied textures of the song, in vocals and instrumentation, make this song an amazing cornerstone to the entire the album.

Lyrics of “Fallen” play into and provide unparalleled melody spliced into the heart of the overall song. The verse/chorus hand-off comfortably, taking the listener through a mixture of rhythm, syncopation, and overall easy listening.

“When It’s Over” opens with a dark push that moves into imploring vocals. Percussion and bass bring forth a…well, hell, see for yourself:

When It’s Over

Vocals dance over a blistering drum beat on “Believe” , and sail through a siren-like guitar drone, but acquiescing to the driving force behind the kit.

Like a breath of fresh air, Tridon pulls out “Amor Verdadero”, a nice upbeat rock ballad, in Spanish. Few artists will attempt such a feat. Sure,  perhaps a few phrases or samplings, but not as a whole. The song is fun and regardless of whether or not the listener can pick up “Mi Amor” and “Mi Corazon.” It’s another effortless song that takes up residence in your brain and makes you begin humming it when you least expect it.

“Say it Out Loud” has an anthemic intention, featuring more background vocals than on any of the other songs on this collection, as well as the crunchiest guitar solo.

These are just a preview of what the album has in store. We don’t to give it ALL away; however, when Tridon brought Jeremy into the mix to work with them, they set themselves up for total success. It’s a great addition to the mix. A nice solid 3.5 skullz out of me. Get out there, listen and support Indie Music at its finest – and give it up for TRIDON!
