Kristen: Well, Suzie, Sarah and I spent several years auditioning over 200 individuals collectively for this band, and that might even be an understatement. It wasn’t easy finding the right members. Metal isn’t exactly on the top of the list for most musicians, let alone females at that. So it was a matter of finding musicians who share the same passion for this music, can play it exceptionally well, and ones we also mesh with. Not an easy task. First we scoured the States, eventually graduating to the rest of the world, trying out a girls from the Netherlands, Canada, South America etc. Finally we found our current lineup, and between the six of us, we are from four states and two countries (U.S./UK). Interestingly enough, our booking agent Dave Shapiro told me he wanted to put something like this together years ago and soon discovered just how difficult it truly was. That being said, he knew we had something very special and reached out to us right away. Even though it took quite some time to make this happen, I think everything happens for a reason and I am extremely excited about our lineup. We are some of the most dedicated and determined musicians out there.
Kristen: We wanted to do something different than what is currently out there, but at the end of the day we would rather people focus on our music. We are just musicians, playing in a band, just like any other band. I think there is a bit of a negative stigma surrounding girls being in bands, and I suppose the best way to make a stigma disappear is to not give it any credence.
Izzy: Before I got contacted by Kristen I had been looking for a project for ageeesss. I never actively looked to join a band with just girls or just guys, for me gender doesn’t matter, at all. I knew had to get involved with this specific project because I loved the sound and vision. I mean, building on what Kristen said its a shame there aren’t as many girl musicians on the rock/metal scene….hopefully we can inspire others to pick up instruments and play some heavy music, maybe even get rid of this totally unnecessary “all-girl” label forever.
Izzy: Distance has made it difficult for me to get fully involved with the songwriting so far. I can’t wait to finally get some face to face jamming done in the summer and see what we come up with next!
Suzie: We all collaborate, however Kristen and I are the main song writers in the band. We have been writing these songs for a few years now.
Listen to Conquer Divide’s Eyes Wide Shut
Izzy: I can’t wait to play England. It’d be awesome to play my home country and seeing some familiar faces in the crowd….playing Download festival would be awesome!!!
Suzie: I would love to play in Europe, especially England, Germany, France, and Italy.
Kristen: I want to go everywhere, so it’s really really hard to narrow it down to just one place! I love to travel. But definitely Europe, Australia, Japan, Russia, Indonesia/Malaysia, Central and South America!
Kristen: I draw inspiration from a lot of places, but definitely August Burns Red, Between the Buried and Me, A Perfect Circle, 30 Seconds to Mars, Deftones, Lights, City and Colour, We Came as Romans, Protest the Hero and so many more.
Suzie: My favorite bands are Parkway Drive and August Burns Red however I pull a lot of influence from rock bands as well. I love Thrice.
Izzy: I love bands like Parkway Drive and August Burns Red, I definitely I take a lot of influence from them in my playing. They are ridiculously tight live and thats a big goal for me. But like Kristen, I listen to all kinds of music from different genres….I think its important to have variety.
Izzy: Ohh so many! Getting on any rock/metal festival would be a blast!
Kristen – It would be an honor to play with the bands that I have been influenced by, definitely August Burns Red, We Came as Romans, and I think it would be fun to tour with Asking Alexandria. Those guys are a riot.
Kristen: It’s hard to say because nothing has been done quite like this before (in this genre) but I definitely have high hopes for the future. The sky is the limit!
Izzy: I can’t wait to get out and tour. Travelling around and playing in different countries is going to be such a fun/surreal experience!! I have a lot of faith in the band and all of us are very determined and passionate about what we do.
Suzie: I believe we want to focus on finishing the album and getting on the road, then starting on another album. I feel that with time our music and our experience in the music industry in general will grow and help us all improve.
