Here’s some exciting news for fans of the FRIDAY the 13th franchise. Paramount has announced the date of March 13th, 2015 as the release date for the next chapter in the franchise.
Yes, that is indeed a Friday.
Paramount got the rights to the franchise back this summer in a deal with Warner Brothers but one of the stipulations is that Paramount must produce something within five years or Warner gets those rights back. With a release date now locked the next step would be to figure out just exactly what the hell they’ll be releasing.
One would assume it will be a sequel to the remake but as fans of the franchise know, assuming anything when it comes to Jason Vorhees is always a mistake. We do know that Platinum Dune is producing which adds major fuel to the straight up sequel route and although only rumor at this point, early word is that they are eye balling going “found footage” with this chapter.
