Stone Sour are “Fabuless” in Kansas City

It’s always a great time when the boys of Stone Sour come through your city, but when they bring their friends of Steel Panther and The Cherry Bombs, things are likely going to be left sticky; thanks Steel Panther!  Seriously though, a night with Stone Sour, Steel Panther, and The Cherry Bombs is not to be missed.

Do you like fire, aerial acts, and did I mention beautiful women, yeah, we know you do.  Opening for Steel Panther and Stone Sour are The Cherry Bombs, a dance troop hailing out of Atlanta, GA.  Founded by Alicia Dove, a.k.a., Cherry Vicious, the former NFL cheerleader has gathered a talented stable of ladies and they know how to get a party started.  Coming out to Rob Zombie’s “Pussy Liquor”, the audience perked up and were intrigued with what they were about to see.  What they saw was a troop of talented young dare devils doing everything from eating fire, pole dancing, and attacking themselves with power tools.  Cherry Vicious even made her debut of playing the guitar on stage.   Unfortunately, the theater did not have the lay-out to allow for the aerial aspects of the show.   If the audience in attendance were not ready for a good old fashioned rock show when they got there, they sure as shit were by the time The Cherry Bombs left the stage.

Up next, the stain of the sunset strip; the party boys of paradise; Steel Panther mounted the Midland Theater stage and thrusted into action.  Hairspray and sexual harassment were on full display as the boys of Steel Panther put on the grimiest show they know how.  Yes, this all sounds lude and lascivious, but damn it that is how Steel Panther rolls and the Kansas City crowd swallowed the load.  On the real though, every one of those men on that stage are some of the most talented musicians in the game, and worked there asses up and down the sunset strip to get to where they are today.  Not only are you getting some of the funniest 80’s style rock you will hear, the comedic banter on stage will have you rolling with laughter just as hard as Mike Starr on Viagra.

What can we say about the night’s headliner that you don’t already know? It’s fucking Stone Sour.  I know what I can tell you; these dudes are ready to go.  I have seen Stone Sour a plethora of times and like a fine wine they are getting better with age.  You honestly don’t know where to look.  While Corey Taylor is up there proving to the world that his neck is perfectly healed, Johnny Chow is up there treating his bass like a weapon of mass destruction.  Energy, emotion, and a shit load of confetti were on display for the masses to see.  Classics like “Take a Number”, “Get Inside”, and “Cold Reader” roared throughout the Midland Theater much to the delight of the long time Stone Sour fan base.  Those new to the party were not left out, of course; this tour is in support of the new album Hydrograd.   “Song #3”, “Rose Red”, and many others were presented for the first time to the Kansas City faithful before closing the night with “Fabuless”.  I mean, come on; you all knew Stone Sour were going to deliver; you don’t need me to tell you that.  I can’t wait to see what they have for all of us that will see them on Shiprocked.
