For Whales and Leeches, the band worked producer Chris Funk (Decemberists) and mixer Vance Powell (White Stripes, Raconteurs, Kings of Leon). This same team worked on RED FANG’s last album Murder the Mountains. Whales and Leeches sees RED FANG further maturing into top notch songwriters and musicians. With the help of guests Mike Scheidt (Yob) and Pall Jenkins (The Black Heart Procession), Whales and Leeches further propels RED FANG into the upper stratosphere of hard rock and metal elite.
RED FANG will kick off the first leg of their fall headlining U.S. tour October 9 on the west coast (see confirmed dates below). Before the fall run–which features support from Helms Alee, Dog Shredder and Gaytheist–RED FANG will head to Missoula, MT to headline the 12th annual TotalFest on Saturday, August 17 and New York City for a special Converse Rubber Tracks show on Thursday, August 22 at 285 Kent in Brooklyn, NY (see all dates below).

The band spent the past few years touring the world and wining over audiences at clubs and festivals like All Tomorrow’s Parties, Rock on the Range, Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival and Metallica’s Orion Music & More Fest. After more high-profile tours with Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, Helmet, Saint Vitus and more, the band expanded their global footprint with a European trek and festival appearances across the continent. 2013 promises to be the biggest year for RED FANG yet, with their intense live performances, unique brand of humor, catchy songwriting and independent attitude—they show no signs of slowing down.
