INTERVIEW: VINCENT WARD

Vincent Ward - The Walking Dead
With The Walking Dead finale upon us, we felt it appropriate to go ahead and launch up our most recent interview, with Vincent Ward, Oscar from The Walking Dead! Our ultimate horror fan, Sarah Church, was able to snag a quick moment with the actor, and we learned a little more about him!
You didn’t start off as an actor. You tried out various hats before the acting bug bit you. What drew you in about the craft?

I never thought about acting, I actually went and saw a play and then I fell in love with it and took a chance.

What about you, besides your height, do you feel you bring to any given role?

Besides my height, I bring dedication and realness. Height can sometimes play against you because they don’t want you to tower over everyone.

How did the role for Oscar on the Walking Dead come to light? Were you a zombie fan prior to this experience?

I just auditioned like everyone else and I didn’t know the show was about zombies until after I got the part.

Have your views regarding zombies (or the horror genre in general) changed? Can we expect to see you in future horror related roles?

I just want to act, I don’t care what genre it is. I do have a zombie comedy coming out with Vladimir K and Tony Todd called Live-Evil.

What were your feelings when you found out that Oscar was going to be killed off?picture 1

I was disappointed because I felt I had done enough and done a good job for people to want him around longer, plus I read that I was getting killed.

What did you learn regarding acting from your experience with the Walking Dead?

I just learned they have a huge fan base, that’s it.

If your character had not been killed off so soon, where would you have liked to have seen his story go?

Oscar could’ve been a great character because the ladies loved him and they guys respected him. Honest, loyal and brought sex appeal and some humor with Axel.

I read in another interview that you’ve developed a great relationship with Lew Temple – what did you learn from him, from an acting perspective?

I learned he is a good friend and a very good actor. Friendship is more important than anything else.

What is next for you? Where can we expect to see you next?

Live-Evil, a play called Secrets and The New 40, short film called Mirror Mirror, conventions, pilot and continue to live life without any regrets in life.

Thank you so much for giving us a moment of your time!  We greatly appreciate it!

You are very welcome.
