With another non-stop tour about to wrap up, Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust takes a moment to catch us up on Sevendust, touring, new material and more.
How is everything going right now for you guys on the road man?
Everything is good man, this is our last little like trip. It has turned out really good everyone has been coming out, the energy has been good and with Gemini Syndrome out here on the road with us and some friends of mine from Kansas, Sidewise, it’s been great.
How was Sturgis?
We didn’t get to play this time because of weather, but man it’s still an experience to be at Sturgis you know? We love it, I can’t wait to go back next year.
What’s in the works for you after this tour is complete?
We got a little bit of down time. We were talking together as a band about maybe taking the third leg out just to see what’s going on in a couple of months, but just to kind of slow it down and get back to family for a minute man and of course, work on the music.

It’s been a year since Black Out The Sun was released, are you recording anything anytime soon?
We definitely are going to be recording new stuff. We just don’t know exactly the time that we would be going to the studio yet.
What does Sevendust have lined up this Fall or into 2015?
I would love to get back over to Europe and Brazil and all those type of places but we’ll see. Everything is like kind of up in the air right now because we’ve been working so hard out here that we haven’t really had time to unplug, so that’s what we’ll be doing.
Looking back on the acoustic tours earlier this year, how do you feel Time Travelers and Bonfires was received?
Oh, it was great, it was great man. You put us under the microscope for a little bit and I don’t think a lot of people can go down that avenue and put a full two hour show together. It was great to be able to see the showcasing of people being able to sing and also play the instruments at a lower level, but not taking anything from the excitement and the energy that a Sevendust show has for sure.
Can fans expect another acoustic set in the future?
Oh, definitely. With that avenue being taken down and it went so well, why not be able to go out and do something like that again, and maybe in the future do something where we can do an evening with the acoustic and then come back the second half and do electric? You know, there are all kinds of things that we’ve talked about, so we could ultimately pull something together like that.
Any stories or things you want to share from this past tour?
Oh, man just every night, everywhere has been an incredible night man.  It’s a good energy. We do the VIP things so we get to hang out with people. It has just been a lot of fun out here, especially with a band like Gemini Syndrome that we consider our brothers, yeah it has been a blast man.
LJ, thank you for your time and enjoy that down time, we’ll see you all soon.
Thanks man, I’ll see you soon, take care.
