FANS GIVE A STRANDED DAVE MATTHEWS RIDE TO HIS SHOW

A funny thing happened to Emily Kraus and her boyfriend Joe on the way to see the Dave Matthews Band on Saturday night in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Emily spotted a bicyclist who appeared to have a disabled bike on the side of the road and told Joe, “That guys looks just like Dave Matthews!” Not thinking that it actually was, they still decided to turn around and see if they could offer some help, as they had a bike rack.

Good move! It was indeed Dave Matthews, who had no cell phone, a broken bike chain and a show to do in a few hours!

“So, we saw him on the other side of the road and we pulled my car in here. And he picks up his bike and throws it up here. He said,” I’ve never seen a bike rack like this before,” so Joe walks over and he’s helping him put it on and I’m standing here and I’m holding his helmet.” Kraus said.

Dave jumped in the backseat and off they went to the show – together. The couple, who are huge fans of the band must have been a little starstruck. “So we didn’t know how to make conversation with him. So we were talking about his tour and where he had come from. He had just been in Cincinnati and he said “I’m taking a short break after this one because I have to drop my daughters off at camp.” and he was just a very humble guy.” Kraus told CBS 21.

They made it to the venue on time! Dave Matthews was so grateful, he took Emily and Joe on a backstage tour, then gave them front row tickets to the show and a shout out during the concert. Matthews also invited them to dinner after the show, but the couple were so freaked out they politely declined saying, “We felt out of place.”

But perhaps the report on CBS 21 was not correct. Here is what Emily posted on the Dave Matthews Band Facebook Page which suggests that she did in fact take Dave up on his offer for dinner…

We have to believe that Emily and Joe didn’t turn down an invite from their favorite rockstar for dinner. We’re going with what she wrote. Regardless of the dinner/no dinner – it will be a night that Emily nor Joe will ever forget for sure. She said, “I woke up this morning, and I rolled over and I said, okay yeah that really happened yesterday ha ha ha ha! It was surreal we couldn’t believe it.”

Dave Matthews also signed their tickets saying “Thanks for the ride!” Now that’s a fan’s dream come true!
