Caparezza rocked Italian HIT Week in Miami Beach November 8, 2014 produced by The Rhythm Foundation.
Caparezza performed in front of a riveted, energetic, mixed crowd of Italian, Spanish and English speaking fans on a beautifully warm night under the stars in the outdoor venue North Shore Band Shell. He played for approximately two hours, playing 17 songs with one encore.
Caparezza, the rap-metal Italian artist, presented his show in well-spoken English. Theatrics, skits, painting, dancing, selfies, and witticisms were all part of his presentation which gave the audience a better understanding of Caparezza’s artistic expression. Most of the songs he performed were from his latest release Museica (2014 – Universal) including ‘Avrai Ragione Tu’ (You Must Be Right), ‘Mica Van Gogh’ (Not Even Van Gogh), ‘Sfogati’ (Vent), ‘Giotto Beat’, ‘Canzone a Metà’ (Song in Half), and ‘Cover’ with a smattering of his classic hits such as ‘Vieni a ballare in Puglia’ (Come Dance in Puglia) and the entertaining ‘Legalize Premier’.

Caparezza, a consummate wordsmith, sings and raps about current events incorporating his own political views through “dissing”, word play and humor. A personal highlight of the night was the performance of ‘Legalize Premier’ which is (as Caparezza explained) a political commentary about the corruption of ex-Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi whom in his tyranny not only cheated his way into office but then once in office changed the laws in order to maintain his power. This rap-reggae track from the album Il Sogno Eretico ( The Dream Heretic, 2011 – Universal) flirts with the pro-marijuana mantra “Legalize it”, which is yet another one of his messages.
The show overall was fantastic, although I was reminded by the band that this was more of a traveling skeleton crew in comparison to what one could expect to see in Italy. Nevertheless these Italian musicians’ contagious energy had everyone was rushing the stage to dance with Caparezza, much to his delight.
Caparezza’s sixth album Museica (2014 – Universal) has already hit platinum status and has recently won the coveted “Album of the Year” known as the Premio Tenco (Tenco Prize), which is the most authoritative recognition in Italian music, organized by the Club Tenco since 1984 and awarded by a jury made up of over 200 journalists – by far the largest and most representative in Italy in the field of music.

Caparezza ha tenuto un concerto all’interno del festival Italian HIT Week a Miami Beach, Florida, USA, l’8 novembre 2014 prodotto da The Rhythm Foundation.
Caparezza si è esibito sotto un cielo stellato nella suggestiva sede outdoor del North Shore Band Shell davanti un energico pubblico formato da fan di origini varie. La band ha proposto 17 canzoni ed un bis per un totale di circa 2 ore di musica.
Il poliedrico Caparezza ha presentato il suo spettacolo in un ottimo inglese. Le teatralità, i disegni, le danze, i suoi selfie e la sua arguzia sono state parte integrante dello show atte a fornire un’idea più chiara, ad un pubblico straniero, sull’artista Caparezza. La maggior parte delle canzoni presentate (‘Avrai Ragione Tu’, ‘Mica Van Gogh’, ‘Sfogati’ , ‘Giotto Beat’, ‘Canzone a Metà’, e ‘Cover’) fanno parte del suo ultimo lavoro Museica (2014 – Universal) più alcuni successi passati come ‘Vieni a ballare in Puglia’ e la divertente ‘Legalize Premier’.
Caparezza, consumato paroliere, rappa l’attualità e la sua visione politica tramite il “dissing”, i giochi di parole e l’umorisimo. Il momento clou della serata è stato l’esecuzione di “Legalize Premier” che è (come ha spiegato Caparezza) una critica all’operato politico dell’ ex-premier italiano Silvio Berlusconi che durante i suoi vari mandati imbrogliò per salire al potere e in seguito cambiò le leggi per poterlo consolidare. Questa canzone rap-reggae estratta dall’album Il Sogno Eretico (2011 – Universal) flirta con il mantra pro-marijuana “Legalize it” il quale è un altro suo messaggio.
Lo spettacolo è stato fantastico, seppur la band mi abbia fatto notare che lo show proposto era più semplice di quello che presentano in Italia. Ciò nonstante, l’energia contagiosa di questi musicisti italiani e il carisma di Caparezza hanno indotto il pubblico a ballare insieme a lui.
Museica (2014 – Universal) il sesto album di Caparezza è stato già premiato come “album dell’anno” il riconoscimento più autorevole del panorama musicale italiano, organizzato dal 1984 dal Club Tenco e assegnato da una giuria composta da oltre 200 giornalisti (di gran lunga la più vasta e rappresentativa in Italia in campo musicale).
