Album Review: Horizon by Owl Company out July 14th

I am not going to lie, when I was first presented the album and band information for Owl Company, I have to say all that came to mind was that damn Owl City or whoever it is that sings that “Firefly” song.  So yeah, I was really looking forward to listening to the album.

Let’s just say I am glad that I listened to Horizon, the debut album for Owl Company, set to drop on July 14, 2017.  People always say “rock is dead’ or “you can’t find good music anymore,” and well that is just not true.  I just do not think people are looking that hard or giving new artist a fighting chance.  Well do Owl Company and yourselves a favor and give them a chance.  Enrico Minelli and the boys from Sao Paulo, Brazil, have delivered what you all say does not exist anymore.

I do not know what it is, but it seems that almost all of the great albums always have an intro, a preamble to let you know what you are in for.  Horizon is no different.  Dirty guitar playing over the top of police sirens set the scene for the next nine tracks that are going to punch you in the face.

Here is the deal, I am not going to give you a track by track break down of all the tasty licks and solos and all that jazz I am going to tell you this.  Owl Company is that throw back to that early 90’s combination of grunge and just dirty rock and roll. Horizon has a sound that will make you think of bands like Clutch and Corrosion of Conformity but with a style that is all their own.  Every song Horizon has to offer delivers a clean sound that features four men with their instruments and not all that fancy studio cover up bullshit.  Raw power from both Enrico’s vocals and the fellas in the band will give all you rockaholics what you have been clamoring for.
