hands like houses
by Ted Darden
How did Hands Like Houses start?
Just the usual story - a bunch of friends thought it’d be cool to be in a
band, played some shows, met other friends in bands, and over a couple
of years became the five guys you see now!
We had the awesome opportunity to sit Can you tell me about your previous bands, So Long Safety and
down and talk with Trenton from Hands Eternal Debut, and what kind of experiences led to where you are
Like Houses and learn a little more about today?
the band, the music, and what we, the fans, Haha!! Ah man, you can’t hide from the internet. None of our
can expect in the future. Sit back and relax previous bands were of any particular note, but they were how we
met and gave us our first taste of playing live shows. Canberra had
on this one; you won’t be sorry! a really solid community around our local scene back then, so it
made us appreciate and respect the camaraderie aspect of music.
What are some of the influences that help to shape the Hands
Like Houses sound?
We’ve all got pretty diverse tastes and influences, but I feel like
the most consistent ones over the years would be Thrice, Circa
Survive, BMTH, Saosin, and The Receiving End of Sirens.
